Just kidding, wearing a helmet is the smart way to go. But myself coming from a State that doesn't have a helmet law and riding for over 20 years without one it would be different for sure. Ride safe, ride fun, and loud pipes save lives..

I believe most M/C riders don't wear a helmet because catastrophies always happen to the other guy.
As for insurance, even though a M/C is cheap to purchase and maintain, most choose not to go with insurance to save what little money it costs. That's why we have mandatory insurance laws on cars, or else most people wouldn't carry it.
BTW, I make these statements a a result of what I have observed working in the auto insurance claims business for quite a few years.
