i didi jury duty on a dui case.

she admitted being at a bar and drinking 6-7 beers.
she blew over the legal limit.
the cop had a video camera..2 am in the morn.
got behind her and filmed her weaving all over the road.
blue lighted her at a stop light she kept going...
next light 1 mile of flashing lights later cop had to jump out and knock on her window to get her to pull over.
she stumbled all over the "line" trying to keep balance, very incoherent etc..

during break i said...man this one is a no brainer.
other jury guy said Yeah Really.

come to find out he and others thought she was innocent.

why...

said was weaving cause front end out of alignment..showed mechanics documentation of proof.
did not pull over cuz windows were dirty/fogged up did not see cop blue light...video backs up fogged windows.
said could not hold balance has balance problem showed doctors documentation.
said blew over the legal limit cause chewed gum and smoked cigarette first.
her lawyer said he would prove the trooper was "out to get her".

the blow test, video of weaving all over(from shoulder to shoulder), not pulling over, falling all over the line...could'nt touch her nose etc...meant little to most of the jury after hearing her lawyers arguments.

i argued she confessed to drinking 7 beers just before driving.

that was the only thing that got her convicted...felt sorry for her had to do it.

It's really great isn't it, being able to live in a country where you can freely show distain for an entire career field, and the laws of the country in general. You can even make wild, inaccurate statements concerning the senior citizens of this same country, and no one will take you to task.

If it makes you feel better about yourself to take cheap shots at those of us who chose law enforcement as careers, please feel free. On your best day you can't come close to the people I've had to work with on a daily basis.

Now, to answer your question concerning elderly drivers, yes I have stopped drivers who appeared to be impaired, only to find that they were simply exhibiting behavior brought on by a combination of slowed reflexes, poor eye-sight, etc.

In California, ANY person, including a peace officer may use the form link below to request that DMV reevaluate the driving skills of a person they feel exhibits signs of diminished capacity, which can be described in many ways (refer to the form). You could have a field day with this form. You could submit the names of all the older, more mature (and most likely more intelligent that you) members of your family and have them all lined up at the local DMV.

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/ds/ds699.pdf

Now before you begin doing cartwheels, you better take a peek at the link below that leads to the latest SWITRS report, which shows all collsions within California, broken down in many, many different ways. It clearly shows that older drivers cause fewer accidents..........so I guess your theory sucks........kinda like your attitude.

http://www.chp.ca.gov/pdf/99-sec3.pdf

Hope this helps you with your apparent fetish for elderly drivers.

We can always count on you to come through with a post that has no reason to be put on here. It's time to grow up EasterIsland and show some respect to fellow members. Shooting off your mouth and putting people down on this forum provides absolutely nothing to the memebership here.

There you go, blast a fellow brother of the law and lightning community..

None of the cops ive worked with and/or met thought they were better then everyone else. Infact, majority feel they are just ' average '

It may be a ****ty job in your eyes and that your opinion.. But like everything that comes out of your mouth, it hold very little weight.

1. I don't have any brothers in the law community.
2. I haven't met a cop who thought he was just average.
3. You think what I say carries little weight? I still haven't been "OWNED" by a works blower which were supposed to ship back in march...
4. :crying:

I'm with easterisland on this one. It's been my experience that the majority of cops are power hungry jerks who obviously weren't shown enough attention when they were children. There are a few out there who are just regular guys trying to make a living without getting killed but not many. Sorry to twist anyones nipple but its a fact.

No. Its your opinion, not a fact.

Everyone can bet in Vegas on the fact that Easterisland will show up in every cop-bashing thread. It makes him feel better for some odd reason.

Whatever...........

It was not my intention to turn this into a thread concerning the personal problems some of you have with authority figures and law enforcement in general. You can't get to me, I have way too much self-confidence and pride in my work ethic to be bothered by a few whining malcontents. (and you know who you are)

This thread was a challenge disguised as a question that I have tried to answer to the best of my ability. A few of you are always quick to cast dispersion on those of us who:

A) Own an SVT vehicle
B) Chose law enforcement as a career field (although I'm retired and have been for some time now)

As I said before, take your best shot, your opinion on this subject matter is about as useful as it is on all the other threads you post to.

so why do cops have to be ****s so much when they pull you over?

making smart *** comments, etc. Sure there are some nice guys, I got pulled over my a texas DPS officer one night for going ~9 over the speed limit, and he was young guy, was nice and we talked about my work and my vehicle, etc., and sent me on my way with a warning.

then some ******... like one who pulled me over for slightly spinning my tires coming out of a parking lot. he tells me - "so i bet your parents love paying your insurance bill, I bet you have a helluva record there champ"

I nicely explain to him how I have zero moving violations, and I pay my own goddamn insurance thank you very much, and I gurantee I make more than you officer and I'm only 18 (at the time)

I also dont like the double standard... if a cop sees a white young male in a nice vehicle, he assumes "daddy" bought everything and wont mind paying for a few nice big tickets... they dont realize that some young people are immensely skilled in certain high paying careers and are successful and independant.

I have a white friend who was pulled over and the cop (without probably cause) made them get out and he searched the vehicle and found a plastic bag with a few pot seeds in it (only seeds, no weed) and a few pipe screens. well he gets arrested for drug paraphenalia, fined hundreds and hundreds of dollars, spends the night in jail etc etc.

then I talk to some mexican friends of mine... some of these guys were in and out of "juvie" as kids for things like theft, vandalism, etc. still get in trouble with the law for various things.. cops all around know them by first name basis. so what happens to them when a cop finds a bag of weed on them? usually nothing, cop takes it away, tells them not to do it again, then maybne they chat it up about the "street" or something. they know these guys cant afford the fine they gave my friend for some seeds, yet every day in the paper you can see it:

"jose fernandez - marijuana possesion" "charges dropped"
"juan hernandez = marijuana possesion" "changes dropped"
"enrico delacruz" - marijuana possesion" "charges dropped"

"James Smith - marijuana possesion" "$2000 fine, 2 weeks in jail, 2 years probation, blah blah blah"
