I'm not sure where the rumor that I have been missing in action at FFW is coming from. I was at Atlanta and at Houston all weekend. ( I didnt go to Orlando because of the weather forcast, it rained most of the weekend.) If you didn't see me then you were the one not watching the trucks race because I had a MUCH better view of the track than most. Here is an example of the view from where I was standing during every round of the Top truck running.

I have almost 2000 similar pictures from this years evenst so far.
Were you in Houston ?
I cant race and take pictures of the same class. I'm better at taking pictures than racing anyway, So I have decided to spend my time taking pictures this year.
By the time I posted earlier in the thread I had already checked douconsultings IPs, contacted Steve to give him a heads up and done some other research to see what we could do. I shouldn't have to post every detail of what goes on in the background here. Seems some of the members here have awfully thin skins to misread the simple direct post I made as some how being negative.
I'm plannning on going to the NMRA race this weekend in Ennis as well. Anyone that wants to say hello I'll be hanging around on Sunday. No press pass but Ill be there spectating.

and ok
I've had my disagreements with Doug in the past, but water under the bridge. Not everyone sees eye to eye. But Doug does have a deep commitment to our Lightning community, his site is a true ornament of that comitment.
Anyhow........................
***Anyone notice that this guy is from Jersey...........and with all of the lightning owners and absolute lightning mania going on in the garden state area, this stem head actually thought he would be able to get away with something like this?????
Guys, don't bother paying him a visit....let the sheriff's dept and local authorities do the visiting. He's more apt to do something to resolve the situation when they show up, rather then when you do. This is one of those guys that is so numb, he'd take a beating by 50 of us, and will be ripping people off 3 days later when he wake up!!!
File your complaints legally. The legal system=time, and something will happen. Just sit back and wait!!!

I disagree, You can, legally pay him a visit, like I suggested. Bring a cop with you to, once more, "Preserve the peace." The cops will be compelled to go with you to the location, just to make sure things don't get out of hand. As an added bonus, they wil take notes of the parties involved, the issues presented and the outcome.
I wouldn't suggest waiting for the cops to take action, it tends to be pretty consistant that the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
and civil employees are not noted for being the most inspired workers. Put a fire under their butt, make them come with you, and not tomorrow, because, they will, in all likelyhood, lag if you let them..
And no,this is not intended to be a cop bashing, just the way I have seen things go down in my time.

Your way will work. Only problem i've had with this is both times, the cops quotes were "we are the police, not a collection agency, file a complaint and file suit in small claims court".
Gotta love it.
The one justice we have already gained is this...
This guy will never enjoy driving his lightning again, especially in his home town. If we can get a picture of him...post in on the boards, Lightning, LS1, mustang, what ever, if he sells his truck, chances are, he will buy another performance car...and we can black ball him by use of the same powerfull internet he used to rob us as a community. Anyone know this ****? He's got to buy gas somewhere, snap a mug shot, and let it be posted everywhere!!!!
Also, there are a lot of hot performance guys in Jersey, send his picture and this thread to post in the office!

I have to agree with you. I know a few folks who are mods on popular boards and it is a hard, THANKLESS job for which they get no pay. This isnt the only forum Doug has and I think he does a pretty damn good job of trying to keep things in line. I am amazed at his patience with some of the posting here at times. I know Doug personally and think he is really a good guy with the Lightning community's best interest at heart. The call out to him was unwarranted and unneeded. You can not please everyone on this board or in life, so I dont expect everyone to like him.. but I consider him a good guy in my book.

It looks like this guy has been around for a while now. Scammers SUCK!
After reading some of the post of guys that got ripped off, I thought I'd offer a few suggestions to anyone buying something off the net. I myself have only made one large transaction online and was lucky to have a great experience. I have however looked into buying other costly items a few different times but didn't due to not feeling safe with the deal because of, poor communication on the seller’s part, or lack of information found or conflicting information found during my ‘research’ (see below).
First thing is to make a new folder and save ALL information dealing with the transaction.
Save all emails (Be sure to include full header information).
Save all chat info (an extra step would be to do an IP trace during your ‘chat’ and save that ip# {if you want more info on this research dos commands, it’s not hard}).
Do a search on several related forums with both the persons name then username and see what you find.
Do a search on there name on www.google.com to see if anything comes up (see if they were in papers for bad stuff or anything like that)
Do a reverse look up for any phone numbers they give you to make sure the addresses match (or location in the case of cell numbers)
Do an address lookup to make sure it’s the same name and number
Save all this data you researched via copy and paste in a word document in the folder you made.
Send registered mail so they have to sign for it.
Save your copies of money orders and mail subs.
Ask direct questions and make sure you get direct answers to those questions in your email, chat and/or phone conversations.
Make direct statements about what you want/expect.
Back up your saved data on removable media.
There are other things you can do but these are basic things that can be done quickly. Not saying that this will find the ‘bad guys’ out there but it can help you make a more educated decision.
Good luck everyone and be careful

What's up with all the Doug-slamming? He seems to have been a pretty fair-handed mod. since I lusted after the L back in '98 when the L was a few "spy-shots". I've been a "lurquer" from the beginning and FINALLY an '02 owner.
I've gotten to know Doug. 98Cobra (and 93Cobra/Phil in OH when we were in Akron/Medina) and dboat somewhat personally since moving to TX and they're good guys. Even auto-xed onboard and hung-out w/Stan/Ruslow.
All some of the best L experiences I can remember.
Doug,
I've been/am an Admin. for Int'l/Domestic software systems and can relate to the penny-ante goofy-sh#t flying between rival camps...
Stick to your guns!

Ray I know we are friends, but I have to disagree with you on this one.
First off Doug was not missing in action at the Houston FFW. He was having a problem with his chip, and Jim didn't have time to work on Dougs truck till Saturday night. By that time it was to late to qualifiy for the racing. He may not race at all the FFW events, but he is allways taking pictures of everyones truck, and printing awesome pictures for them right at the track.
As for being a Moderator sometimes it is a no win situation, and I think he does a pritty good job overall. You can't please everyone, and this is a very tough board to moderate.
Ray not everyone hates Doug, infact he is a nice guy and does a lot for the Lightning community. If you knew half of what he does for us(the Lightning Community) I think you would have a different opinion of what he is really like as a person.

I do not and will not kiss anybodys (tuners, moderators, posters) a$$ just to keep peace.Im not that kind of person.I tell it how i see it because unlike you and others,If i pi$$ someone off,I have not invested $30k in a specific tuner that I would be ***** outta luck if I somehow pi$$ed him off. Ive seen alot of what you have gone through Don, You know as well as me that ALOT of it isnt exactly fair to you and you just try and keep peace.I can undestand that but i dont respect it.I speak truthfully how I feel whether it gets me a gain or a loss.Like now,Im probally pi$$ing you off but thats ok at least Im honest about it.You might feel like hes a nice guy bit to me,I just assume Burn a cross in his front yard.Anyway opinions are like a$$holes everyones has one and ive said enough. My opinion is no more valuble than yours. As simple as I can put it.DOUG might infact be a nice guy but over the net,I dont like him.He has NO problem putting his digs in now and then so I dont think his house is made of glass. So I ll get this back on topic.Thats my opinion.Im done posting on this topic,I dont feel like gettin banned again.
