how to mount optima battery???

i bought a yellow top optima yesterday & i'm trying to get it to fit correctly under the hood..

i ended up buying a universal battery tray, metal hook tie downs, and a cross bar from the 'zone.

i took the stock battery tray out (leaving the odd cannister that was behind it to flop around)
then used 4 screws to hold down the new tray.

i don't really like this arrangement at all.. i was wanting something thet held the battery down, so i could compete in a autocross at lightning fest..

help!

What I did...

Was :

1) place the battery on the stock tray
2) mix up a full stick of epoxy putty in a bag
3) wedge the putty into the battery and the stock battery hold down.

It works great.

Brooks, just relocate it to the back of the truck
When I put a red top in the Olds I have, I had to make it work, so I used some aluminum and make brackets.

Cool

HI!... I mounted my OPTIMA "YELLOW TOP" battery under my truck at the rear to help in weight transfer. I fabricated up my own custom battery relocation kit. Here's a few pics :

P.S : The small rectangular shaped black box behind your battery is actually a vacuum resivoir for storing vacuum to operate your climate controls when your truck is not running. I removed mine with no after effects. You just can't use the climate controls when the engines not running. Like who would want to anyway?

Well it matters which one?

I had the OEM ones painted blacK, but now I have a Stulle grill on.
Terry from pro glass put it on when he painted the Lightning.
