Question Problem with tranny????

I have a strange issue with my tranny. It seems to shift into first in a delayed somewhat hard shift when going from nuetral.

To illustrate further. Imagine this .....
Move shifter from park to Drive wait, wait, wait, clunk...into drive it jumps.

Anyone else have this issue or know what might be causing it?
I have NO Shifting programed into my chip(they are stock shift parameters). It does it with chip in or out.

Thanks,

Rocks

Fluid is good. I emailed him twice about it in the past week. No answer yet.

I dunno...maybe? I have asked a few people if this was something to be expected from a built tranny...I have had a few say they have seen this and a few say that the tranny was not working properly.

I am hoping to read if others built trannies act in this manner.

I don't understand you??? Are you saying you have "a built tranny" or not? If you're completely stock, I think you have a sticking valve in the trans.........

I dont know what you have either? Is it a fresh rebuild? Is it stock? How many miles are on it? Does it matter if its hot or cold? Several things can cause a delayed engagement, it is usually a hydraulic problem but without more info I cant help. You need to scan it and hook up a pressure gauge and take some readings to find out whats going on.

03LightningRocks has a Monster Box.

And since we are on the same subject, I am having problems with my Monster Box too. Gregg hasn't returned my call yet, so I was wondering if you guys can help me solve the problem.

Problems;
1. It won't shift into second til at least 2,500 but mostly 3,000-3,500. When you slow down under 20mph, it will downshift back to 1st.
2. In second gear at about 4,000 if I punch it, it will downshift back to 1st on me. And in 3rd it will do the same thing by downshifting all the way back to 1st....way to much speed to try to go back into 1st.
3. If I put it manually in 2nd and take off, it will still be in 1st. Also if I am cruising about 30mph and manually put it in 2nd and accelerate, it will just free rev like it is in nuetral or something.

I have still been driving it. Under normal driving she is alright, besides the late shifting 1st gear. I have put 250 miles on her since Sat. Jim told me that he had put 200 miles on my truck himself.

This is a Monster Box with approx. 450 miles on it.

I haven't had problems with my FT tranny. I have about 7K miles on it so far. I'm not saying that there have never been problems with others or won't be problems in the future, but for the price I'm glad I got the FT tranny. I also have met Gregg and he seems like a stand up guy who would probably take care of any problems unlike ART Carr and Lightning Force performance who have cheated me out of $615 I paid for a torque converter which turned out to be a piece of crap.

Well, lets not base 2 possibly bad Monster boxes change your taste. I know Gregg will make it right.

I am thinking it may be the valve body. The tranny set up for 3 months before it was installed. Then my truck set for another 5 months. I sent the truck to JDM cause of engine problems that a dealer created. He said the tranny worked perfect when he had. it. When I got it is when the problem started. I have been thinking if the ride on a trailer down here might have had something to do with it.

I'm with J.D. Blackwell on this one. Let's not jump the gun here. I don't even know if mine is bad. That's why i ask the original question about shifting into first.

I was hoping to avoid things not getting wacked out of shape by not mentioning the tranny was a Monster Box, but maybe some of the guys that have them can answer a question for me.

Do your Monster Boxes delay for a few seconds before engaging into first when shifting from nuetral?

Thanks,
Rocks
