Killed a Firebird Ram Air - but police won....

So, I'm cruising down 183 in Irving at about 2AM, 70 mph...and along comes a new firebird, get's up beside me, and hit's it, without ever giving me a chance to know what's up....

I punch the OD button, and floor it......I am running well over 140 when I catch him, so I get up behind him, and show him, I still have plenty left, and backoff about 20 yards, and catch back up with him, and pass him. We are flying for about 3 miles, when we come up on our exit. The exit is to Loop 12 North, and is a big roundabout, so I decide to let him go, and I shut her down to normal speeds.

As I'm making coming out of the roundabout, I am at the bottom, and I see a slew of Police cars with no red lights on for fear they would scare us away...The Firebird is Gone....

I'm thinking, Oh Shi...! So, I keep my cool, and eventually they get behind me, and hit the red lights. I pull it over, and the officer tells me to het out of the vehicle. So, I do, he says you trying to kill yourself...I say no, just got my new ride, and am out playing.

He says...Looks like you had too much for the Firebird...! I say, yeah....but he got away, officer says, yep, we can't find him anywhere. Officer says, you two were going too fast to get a radar on you, so I'm gonna site you for racing.....Yoooowwwww

So, he let's me go, and I get my nice ticket for racing...$255.00

I regret the ticket, but it felt really good to spank the Ram-air Firebird....

a lot of times cops will try to act like they are all into your truck to get you to admit you were racing...then slap you with a ticket. Here in florida a "racing" charge is worse than a DUI. Ever since they made that law I pretty much only race on the track. Thats the real proving grounds anyhow...

not exactly what i would be doing at 2 AM. most of the cars on the road that time of day are either cops or drunks.

Thats super! I just got a ticket last night myself. 94 in a 60. What are the odds of a sherriff being out in the boonies at 10 o'clock at night!? Just my luck. All these high horsepower cars coming out now and you cant even test them Good job on the kill though

Racing on the street isn't the smartest thing to do. People have been killed in street racing, but the penalties today are too harsh. You would be better off with a DUI than a street racing ticket in alot of states. That is ridiculous when you consider that over 17,000 people are killed by drunks every year and less than 100 by street racers. I don't recommend street racing, but it isn't near the problem that alcohol is.

You know I'm with 1BADBOLT. I'm sure there are plenty of legal strips in the dallas metroplex one can take their vehicles in order to show who's the best of the best. It certainly would have cost you a lot less than $225.00. But, racing on a highway @ 140+ @ 0200 hours is really inviting exactly what you got. I can't believe you weren't handcuffed and taken off to jail and certainly can't believe any judge in his right mind would adjudicate a racing ticket....Just consider yourself extremely lucky you didn't end up like the person in the article 1BADBOLT posted. Actually I thank God you didn't mess anyone else up.

ROFLMFAO! You sound really broken up about it. From the way I understood your post, I think I should say Congrats!?

Damn! This looks like one of the final anniversary models! One less I guess...
