There was an off-duty FCSO deputy sheriff there as a spectator. He has since been terminated by his department, and is being held both criminally and civilly liable for the fact he stood by and did not stop a crime in progress. His department is also being sued by the familiy of the dead youth.

Street racing is beginning to take on the same negative condonation as smoking in public and gun ownership. Just not very popular right now.
Now this is just wrong. People always want to blame someone else. The cop was dumb for being there, but in no way should he or the department be held responsible. How can the department be to blame when this guy was on his own time. I feel for their loss, but they better not win this suit. The people they need to go after are the racers. The other people, including the off duty cop, just had poor judgement. Sorry to keep this post off subject, but I had to respond.

Back on subject, I'm curious when fastassroush will come back on here with an explanation as to what he was driving.

Technically you are correct, you can't outrun radio, but what good is radio if there are no patrol cars directly ahead? 90% of the time that's how it goes. If you are fast enough to outrun the first car you are probably home free as long as you change direction. Notice they don't have a show called, "The ones that got away". All the cars they show on "Worlds best police chases" are slow POS's that couldn't outrun the first patrol car, so the others caught up. I'm sure there's some video of me out there that didn't make the cut. Now, how did we get on this subject?

Angry I have got to say this

I see the Soap Oprea continues, Maxtorque02 you and I would do good drinking together, when I' am drunk I' am notorious for instigateing fights and as is always succusful in getting one going and walking away with a laugh.

It appears to me you and some other people on this forum don' t need to be drunk to start contraversy. Perhaps sometimes people blow things out of porportion a little, and after you sit down and go through discoveries in your mind there may of been some extrodonary events that may of taken place. Remember it said, "the Cops didn' t get him because of hills or turns perhaps". Before you or any of you other habitual flamers look for errors or loop holes in a story, sit down and think of what you are about to post, Will it offend anybody? Does it have derogitory or slanderious content in your post. If you don't think before you type or speak it could come back on you later.

Oh by the way,

Bought a new 03 King Ranch on Tuesday I' am leaving to my cousins to get the digital camera. I will post pics later for those who care.

Are you speaking from experience? I just believe in the saying "Action Talks and Bull Chit Walks". If you can't back it, then don't say it. That's been the biggest problem lately, to much BS and to much of a soap opera. Let's get back to dealing with facts and real situations.

If I was on the jury the family would only get 30 million but, I'm conservative. I'm sure it will be more.

I don't believe that a law enforcement officer truly has "his own time". He is sworn to uphold the law, period. To quote an instructor friend of mine to his new recruits - "your heart may belong to someone else, but your a$$ belongs to me - 24/7".

Unhappy

Prosecutor:"Officer Smith, where were you when you observed the rape being commited?"
Smith: "About 15 to 20 feet away."
Prosecutor: "Yet you did nothing to stop it? You just observed?"
Smith:"You see, my shift ended at 4pm. I looked at my watch and it was 4:07"

Heh heh..."hello kids...today I want to talk about street racing...heres is a puppet of Vin Diesel, and here is one of Paul Walker.."

Bad things happen...people street race, people attempt to outrun the police, people drive under the influence, some play with guns, others light fires.

We are human...we are flawed. It will never be a perfectly safe world...no matter how many bleeding hearts saturate it.

I know its a free board & all, and opinions will be expressed...but I think if someone posts about something like this, the people that dig it should post accordingly and those that do not condone it should just leave it be ya know. Maybe we could snuff out the whole "Henhouse/chicken coupe effect" we seem to get with these threads. Lots of squalking and no real outcome. I know there are the argumentative few that will refuse to leave well enough alone, but.....ahh...nevermind..I might as well be talkin to the wall..

Sigh. Come on, you know what I mean. The people that street race(and I am not one of them, actually) are going to continue doing it no matter how many pleading posts or BS is put up here, and the people than shun it will not be starting a street racing career anytime soon.

Having mopped up my share of accidents, I have a few thoughts on this.

Everybody (and I do mean everybody) who has NOT been involved in a race-related accident will say with total certainty that they race only when sober, only when there are no other cars around, and have raced professionally for many years.........and never had an accident (yet)

Professional drivers running on closed tracks with other professionals have accidents every day, and professional drivers get killed every day, so I don't think being a professional has much to do with it.

All I know is that when I go out on the freeway (or any street) with my family, I don't want to be a victim of some joker who thinks he can avoid a collision at 100 mph................if Mark Martin can't do it, don't think you can either. It's the unexpected that causes the accident, and all of your good intentions go out the window when another driver turns in front of you, pulls out in front of you or a dog runs in front of you, etc. etc. etc.

Once you have to take evasive action to avoid a collision, logic and sober thoughts go out the window. Drivers lock up brakes, swerve and plow into anything and everything in their way ala NASCAR...........the dynamics of an auto collision are messy and unpredictable, other than the fact that they happen every day, despite the fact the participants are sober, well intentioned professional drivers.

Just my 2 cents worth.............and yes, sometimes I do it too, but only when I'm sober and I am (was) a certified EVOC trainer for many years with literally 100's of hours spent behind the wheel chasing others, and being chased.

Except with that outlook you wouldn't want to drive at all because traffic accidents between sober, non-speeding people happen everyday too.

Except my entire post was directed at folks who street race at high speeds under normal traffic conditions...............not the over-whelming number of sober, non-speeding people.

This was just my two cents worth guys, not a sermon from a soap box.
