Awesome machine! One of the best sport SEDANS ever made probably. But it's still not a sports car. I love the lightning, and I liken it to a sports car...but its not.

No, it's not about a company. It's about PEOPLE that were running a company that tortured Americans. And where are those people now? All dead. So because of their actions, you're going to discriminate against a new generation of ownership?

I bet somewhere in your family line someone owned slaves, or supported a slave owner, so I'll never listen to a word you say... get the idea? And Americans locked up thousands of Japanese as POWs, ruining their lives, but we still buy American vehicles.

It's a point of learning from your mistakes. Forgive, but don't forget. And don't judge one person by the actions of another.

Fun reading on a sunday morning........

I hate to say, but Iam one of those that will NEVER buy a Japanese vehicle. Mainly because I hate to think of my parents spinning in their graves. Having said that, I'll say this:

To JL51, you traded your Lightning and bought a car you wanted, and seem to be very happy with. To me, thats all that really matters, its your coins!
I just can't every seeing a time in my life that I wouldn't want to own a Lightning Its fun to drive, can haul my crap, and yank a trailer where every I please.

I have no idea if the people who were running Mitsuibishi are dead or alive and frankly don't care. The people running Mitsubishi NOW will not admit to these crimes (nor did the past officers of Mitsubishi: denial, denial, denial).
SO yes I am going to discriminate against them for their past actions against my fellow Marines.
I did not personally attack anyone here, I've left that for the less mature members of the forum. I started this with:
[quote] To each their own, BUT......... [/qoute]
If you want to buy a Mitsubitchi or Renault or Citroen or .....It is your money and all. Strangely enough you do not have to ask for my blessing (I stopped that 15 years ago as the requests were over-whelming). I was giving my opinion based on FACT about a car co. that committed war crimes against fellow Marines and soldiers.
"ONE PERSON" as you say dosen't make the decision to use and abuse POW's. It's no excuse to say "I was ordered to". There are many documented accounts of be-headings and starvation, etc by Mitsubishi NOT the Japanese army (although there is plenty of documentation of abuse from them too).
Yes America has made plenty of mistakes, but we have far out-wieghed those with the positive contributions to the world.
My beef with Mitsui corp is their lack of INTEGRITY. They don't haveit, niether did Clinton or does Clinton.
Ford however has ponyed up for using slave labor in WWII and Yes Henry Ford was a ****, BUT they admit to it. Now there is a new concept - being responsible for YOUR actions.

OK then ... sounds like if the evo was made by Ford ... you consider buying it if you wanted a car.

FastGator ... I'm happy to hear that you are very satisfied with your L. I was too for long while ... but having nothing to haul (except as*), the high mileage, and the fact that the rear diff. was making strange noises & the fluid constantly had more metal shavings than normal in it), and I missed having a fast, super handling car w/ a manual tranny, made me move on. I'll tell u what though .... I very much considered the new '04 L, but it appears that the price will be a little out of my range, and by the time it came out my '00 L wouldn't be worth much due to the high mileage. Granted some of you may shake your head at the fact that I like totally different vehicles ... but what can I say ... I have very diverse taste when it comes to performance vehicles. I'll tell u what though ... that new L is going to be one bad **** vehicle! Thanks for the props FastGator ... have a nice Sunday!

True ... but it has a 8cy engine (no sc ot turbo), and frankly it looks sweet (the Ford) ... but it doesn't have near the ***** of an evo or the STi for that matter. Notice I said a "better" rally car ... and in every comparison or review I've seen ... the Ford doesn't compare. Heck, it's only rated around 200-220hp opposed to the the 271hp evo ... and I'm not sure if the street version even has awd. But we can't even get here anyway so Y da ***** am I even talkin' about.
