haha

Hey , you know what I find funny.............

I could almost put a Lightning and a Cobra in my driveway for what some of these bowtie loving yuppies are paying for a Z06 around here...............

I can't justify paying in the ballpark of 50k for that car............

I've looked at them (decided not to wreck the tranny and clutch by test driving one )...........but I can't see it.

Anybody who is familiar with GM and these cars, do you mind breaking it down for me. I'm not challenging whether or not the car is built.............just wanna know who they get the price up so high.

93-95 light 15 seconds
454ss 15 seconds
93-95 cobra 14 seconds
92-96vette 14 seconds
grand nat 14 some 13.9s

It wasnt until 1998 when LS1s came out we saw some fast cars.......13-14 second cars
Don't forget about this:

The Dodge Omni GLH (Goes Like Hell)
1985 Turbo Omni
0-60 in 7.5 seconds and through the quarter in 15.8 seconds at 87 mph; top speed was up to 119 mph.

A few years ago I was taking off quick from a light in my 97 F150 and one of these screamed past me.
I was shocked to see what I first thought was a Chevette go like that. When I caught up to him at the next light, I saw Omni GLH on the back and remembered my older brother telling me about this car. Total sleeper! I'm not a Mopar guy, but thought the GLH is kinda cool.

My my my, sorry I hit a nerve with ya, must hurt having your panties in such a bunch.............

My comment was directed in response to the idea of how easily we can lower our ET's with minor bolt-ons, something N/A engines find more difficult.

BS or not, Ford holds the top truck slot due to the S/C that resides on top of a motor in an F-150 pickup...........and until this model year the same could be said of the Cobra. If it were not for the S/C'ers, we wouldn't be here.

Your analogy of a Z06 beat by a turboed car is a fair one ONLY if the Z06 uses that as an excuse after losing a race he/she freely participates in. Otherwise the arguement is a fair one, bolt a S/C to his/her engine and you better beware. To deny that fact shows your total lack of common sense.

and it sounds to me as if someone couldn't afford a Z06 and had to "settle" for a ford, I'm so sorry.

Actually, I prefer Fords having had four (99 & 02 "L"s and 97 & 03 Cobras). I think your the one with envy issues, me I just like the discounts I get with Ford vehicles.

I think your comments concerning the basketball player pretty well spells out your shortcomings in life.....Don't fret, I hear Napoleon himself liked watching basketball games.

You made this personal with your BS snip, and it appears you wish to continue along that vein, just let me know.

a ZO6 is simply something special ...

JEALOUSY

Runs rampant on this board - you little boys and girls should get a handle on it...

and by the looks of some of your mod lists most of you are already over the fifty K that it takes to purchase one...

this thread is 'F150RomperRoom' at it's best ...

sorry skippy, but my post in no way made this "personal", your reply to my post did though, don't flatter yourself, I do not in any way want to be involved in your personal life. and sorry I do not envy Z06's and the "oldfashioned" way they make their power, they are great engineered cars but not my taste. I just hate it when people start comparing apples and oranges, If a car makes 450 hp it makes 450 hp period, whether it be with cubic inches/blower/ turbo/nitrous it doesn't matter. I have a 89 mustang with a N/A carbed 383, it makes power comparable to the modded 03 cobras, so do I go around saying my car is better b/c its N/A? well according to you I should? or should I? I really don't know what you were trying to say? To be perfectly honest I have forgot what we were talking about in the first place, and would prefer not to trade personal shots back and forth, unless thats what you want?

Actually the ZO6 is a real bargain :-) On the track (road course) the ZO6 is beating cars that cost twice as much. There is a allot that you don't see that goes into the performance of the car, the frame is hydro bent - I think that is what it is called - the frame is bent using water for smooth bends so that the frame may be made lighter and stronger. The exhaust system is made of titanium to remove weight. The floor pan is made of balsa wood sandwiched with a composite material. The battery was specifically designed for the ZO6 to reduce weight. The windows are specific to ZO6 and made thinner to reduce weight. The aluminum block aluminum head LS6 engine is awesome, its not al all peaky like you would expect for a normally aspirated small block pumping out 405HP, the power is there from 2000 RPM up. The car comes with a video explaining all the features and track time that went into tuning the car and making it capable of withstanding lap after lap at racing speeds. At one point the video explains that the car has been designed to operate at WOT through a full tank of gas and then goes to say don’t try it on the streets but feel confident doing it on track :-) How many high performance cars do you know of where the manufacture ships a video with car explaining that you can feel confident operating at WOT through a full tank of gas? The ZO6 uses the F1 super car tires to help achieve the 1G cornering abilities - they are not cheap. The tires and wheels are wider then the standard Corvette yet they are much lighter; if you have ever purchased light weight wheels you will know the lighter the more expensive. The car has an amazing active handling system that can be enabled/disabled. It uses G sensors to measure the cars yaw and then compares that to the drivers intended input and then can apply breaking on any corner of the car to help correct under steer or over steer situations. The active handling is exceptional and very unobtrusive when activated. The ZO6 comes with a heads up display like the ones used in fighters. Unlike Corvettes of past years there is not a single squeak or rattle in the car even over rough roads. The list goes on and on… There is much that you don’t see that has been done to make it an exceptional performance car; I love my truck but I got to tell you GM hit a home run with ZO6 :-) When JDM finishes with my truck I will have more into the truck then the ZO6

mswaim didn't say anything out of line, but your interpretation and response was. ZO6'S and Lightnings are both awesome vehicles and arguing about them is only foolish. I agree with Sonichog on this one. "this thread is 'F150RomperRoom' at it's best

and one more thing ...

Owning a Corvette is not just owning a performance based sports car it's more than that (I owned one so I can talk) ...

There is an 'INTENSE' owners group that supports and surrounds Corvette ownership- like nothing I've ever seen. When I owned my Vette I found the support group to be nothing short of amazing. These people live for their cars.

Corvette car clubs can be found just about anywhere - the parts and aftermarket parts industry is fenominal for these cars ... Doesn't matter what year you own - you can find a part or replacement part for it at the drop of a hat.

Some of the nicest people I have ever met have been through two hobbies I have had - owning an belonging to the Vette community and riding a Motorcycle ... Presently there isn't anything that Ford currently bolts up that can compare to the Corvette - hands down it is one fine piece of machinery... and hopefully someday I will own one again ...

Bro, did you even read any of our posts? first of all the arguement wasn't over lightnings and vettes, it was over the use of power adders on vehicles, he felt the use of a power adder was a kinda short cut to making power, I felt that it didn't matter how you made, just that it was there. two different opinions. I think you had the misinterpretation boss. I never in any way attacked him personally like he did me, so if you want to stick up for your buddy go ahead, but actually read the posts, I called his thought of using power adders as "cheating" B.S., so what? thats not a personal attack, just a mildly hot conversation, this whole thread was about sticking up for lightnings, not the superiority of the vette
