This may be useful for those with cracked fog lights!

I was reading my insurance policy today and came across this: "Full Safety Glass coverage pays without deductible for repair or replacement of safety equipment. Safety equipment includes the glass used in the windshield, doors, and windows and the glass, plastic or other material used in the lights of a motor vehicle."

I believe this coverage is usually added for free (it was on mine), and doesn't add risk of the premium going up.

Its a known defect on these trucks. Once you have 3 or 4 warranty replacements in the computer, they will have to continue to cover them even if your warranty runs out. Dont sweat it.

I got the new 03 lights on warranty. Right side is already fogging up

My fog lights still look as good as the day I purchased the truck. I also don't have leaky window gaskets, cracked doors, spit plugs, blown head gaskets, or any of the other problems we hear about on this board....................YET!!!

That happens when you drive through the big puddles. :P Stay away from them!

Hehe, its easy to drain, just pop'm off, drain them and put'm back on BEFORE you turn them on again.

I hit a big puddle in a flood area once with mine coming home in a flash rain storm, both were filled 1/2-way up. I drained them, and their fine.

/me knocks on wood

I havn't cracked a foglight yet on my 2000. (43000 miles)

Note to self

Do not use foglights when cruising at 142 mph.

If they laugh at you, goto another dealer.

I have found the BEST service at a non svt dealer believe it or not.

Dont even be telling me that.. I have an 02 and just took mine in.
They didnt have any foglamps and had to order the new 03 style for me..I DO NOT want to have to go there every few months to get replacements..
Does anyone know where these things leak? if its around the seal of the bulb, would putting some waterproof grease on the rubber ring seal help?
Dana

Unoid, just took mine to Gervais Ford in Ayer and the guy just took one look at the foglights and wrote up the work order, didnt look under the hood or even notice my exhaust, lowering, or t-bars...I wouldnt worry about it. they arent going to care unless you want engine work done under warranty

such bs, if it is a matter of water getting in the lense then give me another month and I will come up with a process to fix this. Im already going to fab something to mount the 03 fogs in my 00, might as well find a way to seal up the lamps while Im at it. Just have to be careful not to seal in too much heat, its going to need some sort of breather..
