Every single Vehicle I ever had had a remote starter that the Dealers put on. Heck, in Canada it is almost mandatory.

There are option buttons on the factory remote that must be programmed. The problem is that most of the time you will lose some of the range on the remote, but it is still better than having two remotes. Remote starters whale.

I have the factory autostart and I love it. I use it all the time.

Never had a problem with range. I do change the battery in the controller a lot though.

I installed the Ford System 6 "Gold" remote start alarm:

http://www.timskelton.com/lightning/system_6.htm

Range is actually significantly better than the stock remotes.

HOw exactly do you turn it the truck on witht he remote with this starer system. IS there a sequence that you have to press the buttons for it to happen? I cant imagine it being pressing the unlock button once and the truck coming on all the time??????????????

Yipes on that wiring, Tim. I see why its a good investment of the $140.00 you spent at the dealership
