Gregg,
I've read a lot of threads and opinions about tranny fluid, but I thought I would get it "straight from the horses mouth" I will be installing your valve body and B&M pan this weekend and I want to refill the pan with synthetic fluid. Will it be o.k. to mix the synthetic with the residual non-synthetic fluid that is left over in the converter? I really don't want to have it flushed b/c it makes me sick to my stomach to have someone else work on my truck. Also, why does everyone seem to go with Mobil 1 as opposed to Redline or Royal Purple? Do they do something to their oil that no one else does? Thanks for the info.

I have almost 25K on my Redline Synthetic D4 and I love it and, I believe my 4R100 loves it too. There have been very few mechs(tires, brake pads) to touch mine but I didn't worry about my local quik-lube shop as I stood right next to the flushing machine and the mech. IMHO, that's the way to have a fluid exchange done.

I get Mobil 1 synth for free, and that's why I use it. It's better than Motorcraft MERCON but I don't think it makes much difference to tell you the truth. It's worth the jack you pay for it if you live in the south because it holds up to heat better, but if I was paying, I'd use Motorcraft MERCON.
I personally think that Redline, Royal Purple, Amsoil (especially) and all those other "special" fluids are about like WalMart brand in an expensive bottle, but that's just what I think. Something about them just makes me flash "Infomercial"
