I truly believe to each his own, but after having tried Zaino twice, and after waxing and detailing more vehicles than I got hair left on my head I feel I can say with certainty that it's just not worth all the effort.

JUust keep in mind, any company that preaches the gospel of purchasing eight seperate products for that special look is selling you six items you really don't need unless you have a pretty abused finish to begin with.
Well, I wasn't really posting to you, but to 95 ... but thanks
for your take on the matter ... I'm sure that steel wool gets the
swirl marks out ... most people that don't get the performance
from a product generally do not follow the instructions ...

The Zaino system is NOT a wax, but a chemical finishing system.
But since you know everything about everything, I'm sure you
realize that.

Thanks for sharing, Mr Sarcastic ...

Thanks

Well thank you for all your replies.. I have heard alot of good things about Zaino outside this forum. I wasnt expecting a debate here, I thought I would get one reply with a link to a site that sells a kit

I did learn that Zaino goes on clear, which is a huge plus. Again, I'm not worried about it lasting because I don't daily drive the truck. If I do have to apply more coats than my previous wax (Eagle One Wet), which I doubt, I wont mind because I enjoy waxing my vehicles, makes me feel less guilty hang out outside and not "working".

I think I will clay it first, had a friend with a new DSG Cougar and was happy with the results.

Thanks agian, and if someone knows a place that sells a cheap "starter kit", it would be appreciated.

One more thing, swirls marks.. this may sound smart but didnt you (no one in particular) add the swirl marks??

yeah, i'm with you guys there that the Z5 isn't that great of a swirl remover, but if you take the time to do one panel with just Z5 and one panel with just Z2, you can see a difference in the 2 panels. Z5 is ALSO a polish just like Z2, not JUST a swirl remover. I've found that, and this goes pretty much with what alot of the pro's and other zaino users have found, that more coats of Z5 on a dark vehicle look best, and more coats of Z2 look best on a lighter color vehicle.

With my truck (black) i do 3 coats in a day usually when i polish, and i use Z5 for the 2 base coats, and Z2 for the final top coat, and all the chrome. so far this is the best combo or ratio of the 2 polishes i've found for my truck

I'm sure verything else is better. I've used Meguire's, Mother's-yuck IMHO, Zymoy land SOO many others. I ended up with Cherry Wet (why not Wet Cherry?). Truck is black and it does the job without a lot of strain and most important-it is easy to remove and doesn't leave streaks. Also use the Coats product detailer spray. It works for me and I like it. Everybody else likes what they like and that's the way it should be. If any one one product truly was "the best", then there wouldn't be but one product to use.

Sorry didn't see this one before...lemme say....Duh. Where exactly did I say that I used dawn to wash the car every week? If you took the time to read my posts, you would see that I said that I followed all the instructions, as well as all the tips and tricks. I got the special towels. I used the detailer spray between each coat...etc...etc...

Obviously, I do not wash with dawn after applying the wax, polish whatever. Why in the world would you assume that someone that soaked all the time and money into buying and applying all the products, would not know that they cannot wash a car with freakin dish soap after the products are applied???

As I mentioned....I followed the instructions to a T. This would include using the Zaino car wash stuff to wash the car....obviously.

BTW: Ecklers used to charge a premium for Zaino. Not sure if they still do, but when I got mine, it was cheaper to get it from Zaino direct. I still ended up dropping a C-note, but it was cheaper than Ecklers.

I'll vote for the Cherry Wet Wax. I'm on my second gallon. I use the detailer spray, buff, leather conditioner, and glaze. If you want to avoid the white residue on the black plastic, simply put on your plastic protectant (I use 2001) before waxing, it don't stick then.

The CWW is cheap and works fantastic in my opinion. And Mine lasts a lot longer than 3 washes. I wash every week all my cars and it has no problem holding up for 3 months down here in Florida. It goes on and comes off very easy.

I've got a 10 year old Miata whose paint leaves a lot to be desired when new. It looks fantastic with ove 100k miles on it. Check my site.

My two cents. Several years ago I read a article in Mustang Monthy about paint care from some guy who dispays and restores his and his clients Stangs in auto shows. At the time I had a black '92 LX 5.0 notchback. Paint quality from Ford at that time was not great. Anyhow to make a long story short this guy said that to avoid swirls, do not apply anything but wax in a circular motion. In other words if you use a paint prep or such before waxing, or even a clay bar, always apply in a straight motion (horizontal on the sides) and remove the same. The only circular motion was when the wax is applied. The wax is then removed in a straight motion. He also added for those of us who use carnuba or similair, that when applying the wax, remove immediately the wax on a panel when it is "wet". This prevents excessive "balling" of wax that can scratch your paint.

This approach worked great on my Stang for 6 years. It also worked awesome on my '99 CrewCab SD 4x4 for 2 years which was also black.

Hope this helps. Have a good one.
