How much is too much?

I see a lot of posts announcing new product releases like long tubes, blowers, cams, head work, etc. like everyone is racing for the next part. These are factory blown street trucks that lists for $34,000.00 for a standard cab and weigh 5,000 lbs. If you really want to get that much power, you have to rebuild the motor. The trannies also have to be rebuilt to hold up. This can push the price of the truck easily to 45,000 or 50,000.All of this is being done on a fairly new truck probably still under warranty trying to hit the 11s or maybe even the 10s if your lucky.Wouldnt it make more sense to do this type of stuff to older mustang hobby car for a total of 20,000 and run in the 9s? Im just curious why so many guys are willing to spend so much turning a new steet truck into a drag racer.

nothing cooler than catching people off gaurd by whooping em in a vehicle that outwieghs em twofold. Plus i personally like driving trucks as opposed to cars, plus you can haul things and tow stuff.

Since I fit the discription you are talking about (pretty much to a tee) all I can say is- 1-because I can . 2- I LOVE IT!!!!!! 3- I love trucks and fast ones at that.
BTW- I already had a mustang,an IROC, a Trans am,corvette and none of them even came close to the fun I am having now.

I think about that sometimes. To get a Lightning in the 10's solid, it costs about $25k or so including labor, etc...this is w/ a rollbar so it's legal. It's not for everyone....but my parts were installed gradually over a couple years. It doesn't hurt so much that way...would I do it again....heck yea!

You guys all forgot:

Home Depot Runner

It's great drive your truck to the track, put on slicks, run 11's/12's the whole time you are there, and on the way home pick up some lumber for the home project.

Had the Vettes, Cuda's, SS's, and everything in between. I am a truck kind of person, always have been, always will. Which brings me to my favorite saying,
"IT MUST SUCK, TO LOOSE TO A TRUCK" !!!!! TEE HEE, HAA HAA!!!

Its a truck and they are not suppose to be that fast, thats the fun part for me.. I am a truck person as are most of you. Trucks are a big part of my business , trucks of all sizes... But my lightnings are only toys and are for personal use only... As for wanting a stock fast truck to go faster, thats just part of my life to always strive for more....

PEaCE.............
