Once you go with a built short block, it seems that boost nubers start to really rise. Now all of a sudden valve springs start to be a problem, especially if you go with more aggresive cams.
Only (more) money Don....What else we got to spend it on????

I think its seven, but I'd have to go count. Aftermarket plugs have a full set of threads, unlike the oe Motorcrafts, so why not make use of them.

Hey Sal

Do you use Ford Headgaskets?

I see REM uses the Felpro's, but you said something about having problems with a particular brand or style of headgaskets, were they the felpro or something else?

Last year I tried Cometic gaskets, which were the only aftermarket ones out there at the time. At that time, Cometic had been using a "bore shim" that was thicker than the rest of the gasket and acted like a oring, but with no machining. I kept having problems with the bore shim moving out of place when the heads were put on. They have since then done away with the bore shim. After talking to many fellow Mustang tuners and racers, the stock Ford head gaskets are what pretty much everyone is running, with great success. The NEW Ford head gaskets (for the oil leak problem) look just like the current Cometics. Because of all my sealing problems last year, thrashing trying to make races, I would up with one Cometic and one Stock Ford in my motor, and both have held up great. When we build long blocks, we use the Ford gaskets.
