Who was your contact at Roush, riceeater?

Guess its time to call Roush, Jerry. For your sake, I hope the info is wrong. I know the stance that Dans (Pawn) truck has is friggin out of sight. Maybe when I get some money, I'll do the same

yeah the same **** i talked to at roush the first time told me the same thing about 02's, i argued with him but he insisted it wouldnt work, i told him i knew of people with the kit on 02's that also had drop shackles and didnt bottom out. he said the drop shackles didnt come with the kit and they help the problem, which makes absolutely no sense? how can drop shackles(lowering the truck even more) help a bottoming out problem? so i called back and talked to eric and ordered the kit.

I have the Roush kit on my 2001 and I like it. I used the rear bumpstops from a 99 instead of the stock ones.

The bump stops on 01+ are GIGANTIC compared to the ones on my 00 truck. Mine are about 2" shorter then an 01+ bumpstop.

You won't bottom out much if you change out or cutdown those behives you guys get as the bumpstops... The ROUSH kit does not include new rear bumpstops.

Roush Suspension

I would like to know if it will work or not, too. This is the response I got. "However, after the year 2000 it is incompatible due to some rear susp. alteration which causes our kit to make it ride too low." It was passed on to me through a contact at work from Roush. I will dig a little further and see what I can find out about the exact problem. I didn't really think twice about it after I was told it wouldn't work.

I wonder about people like you. I have already said it works in various threads. Others with 2001+ Lightnings have said it works. What more do you want? Roush has been saying it doesn't work since the 2001's came out. They are wrong. It does work. It does work. It does work. It does work. It does work.

2001+ model year Lightning owners say the kit works!

Roush Suspension

Easter Island,
You wonder about people like me!! You are the first person that I've read that installed the system on an 01' or newer L that didn't have bottoming out problems. Are you going to refund my money if it does bottom out all the time? Have you ever driven on the roads up here in Michigan? If I hurt your feelings because I trust the word of Roush over you I'm sorry.

Roush doesn't know WTF they are talking about. My truck will bottom out exactly like a Roush equiped 1999 or 2000 Lightning with the same payload. If you don't want to bottom out stick with the stock suspension and don't overload the truck.
What do the roads in MI have to do with anything? If they are anything like roads in the other 49 states I would guess they are fairly flat and have white and yellow lines painted on them.

i dont understand what the problem is, i have a 2002 and expect my roush kit to be in any day now. you are changing all the springs so no matter what year you have it will ride at the same height. i have drop shackles now and plan to re-use them at the second notch, like a number of people have done(including other 2002 owners) i will cut back, or install my stock front bumpstops on the back, whatever i feel is necessary once i get the kit in. if it still hits all the time, which i doubt it will, ill find some other way to fix that problem. if you want the kit, get it, its at a good price right now, don't listen to the "techs" at roush, who have probably never even seen a lightning with the kit installed.

Roush Suspension

eaterisland,
If you compare all the roads in the US to the Mi roads obviously you have never driven up here. I'm done with this. I'll just stick to my Eibach's and drop shackles. Thanks for your help.

Oh...Next time I hear that Roush is looking to hire people I'll send you a PM. Just think of the vehicles they build if they knew what they were talking about.

Good choice. Stick with your eibach's and drop shackles.

I'll be awaiting the PM. I really, really want to work for Roush sales department. I could sell one hell of a lot more suspension kits for the Lightnings than they can.

Roush sales now, "No, our kit doesn't work on the 2001+ Lightnings."
Roush sales with easterisland on staff, "Yes, our kit works on 1999 to current Lightnings. On the 2001+ Lightnings cut the rear bumpstops 1.5"s to allow for extra travel."

Hey guys, I'm new here but maybe I can help. I contacted Roush about buying the kit for my 02' L. They told me that Ford re-designed the rear suspension on the 01' model and that the Roush kit was designed for the 00' and older set up. I was told that the rear suspension would constantly bottom out if I installed it on my truck.
That's BS ...

It's the same exact kit for all years, right? The same distance
between the rear leaf spring mounts? It sets the ride height
the same on all the trucks, doesn't it? Where the bump stops
hit the axle is an independent fixable variance.

I love how it handles, people ... Truly Engineered to meet the
requirements of our performance trucks, from the PEOPLE that
designed our trucks....
