What did I do wrong?
Been a Lightning owner for a little over a year now and I have to side with pgh_medic. 5 years ago, some kid rear-ended me while racing. He put my head through the back windshield of my Ranger. 8 staples, a broken bone, a scraped eyeball, a punctured lung, and a painful recovery later, it took all I had to not find him (I had his address) and pound his head through a couple windows.
If you race, stay away from me. Take it to the track so that if anyone gets hurt - it's the one racing.

The problem is that people street race on busy roads. Any time my friends and I street race we go out somwhere there are not any other cars. I think people who race on busy streets are complete idiots and if they woulod have just been smart and taken the time to drive somwhere remote then maybe a tragedy could have been avoided. I street race but i am smart when i do it and i dont do it to often
Medic is not trying to belittle any of as, I' am guilty for street raceing lots of times and I will continue to do it what ever I' am driving Lincoln, F-350, Metior, Studibaker, Forklift or what ever. He just cares about our safety and well being. I' am in a wheelchair not because of street raceing but because of another driver not paying attention.

My heart and prayers to the Family and Friends of those in the pictures
bluelightning: Thank you, that is very true I am not trying to come off as that and i appreciate you recognizing that. I saw your posts regarding your current status and wish you nothing but the best of luck with your surgery. Surgeons are amazing people and I have COMPLETE confidence that you will be walking again in no time, you will be in my prayers.
Rob_02: I am sure they families would appreciate you praying for their terrible loss.
I appreciate and respect everyones opinion, I hope you are all safe and enjoy a great upcoming race season. I look forward to seeing everyones new "winter mods" in action and seeing who comes out on top this year!
I will now return to my position as "L board troller" and just sit back and watch, although I am having a heck of a time finding a house, maybe I'll buy an L and live in it?
In the words of a great wise man I leave you with this quote.
"The whistles go Woooooooooo Wooooooooooooooo!"
Peace out!

I think you should keep posting pic like you have. Maybe it will make one kid stop and think.
And as far as racing at the track, there are no side streets, no innocent bystanders and such to get "in the way". At the track you are required to wear a helmet, which provides some head protection in the event of a crash. As yes, I have done some stupid things on the street-------but I have grown smarter

anytime you get behind the wheel you are at risk, wether you are 16 or 60. i do agree that there are some people that just should not be behind the wheel of a automobile no matter what and unfortunatly these are the people that are usually involved in those types of accidents. but i didnt by my truck to to drive a 100 miles to the nearest track everytime i want to go fast, and seeing pictures is not going to make me stop getting on the on-ramp at full throttle, sorry. nobodys perfect, i guess im no different.
Fast Gator: As I am not an L owner it is noy my place to regularly post on this board, I appreciate your kind words. If i do see a thread promoting dangerous activities I will post pictures, unfortunately I have a large library to choose from. I couldnt agree more about your statement concerning the race track. And I too have done some stupid things in my truck, Off-Roading can be just as dumb! LOL... Keep your truck looking sweet and keep up with the ladies! Dude, you're my idol!
wkuper11: I appreciate your input and I understand driving 100 miles is a pain in the rear just to race. I also understand that just looking at pictures on your computer screen may not disuade your need for speed on public roadways. I see you live in Connecticut, not all that far from Pittsburgh, Pa., how about you come run a shift with me? How about you listen as I tell a Mom her son is not coming home, or worse yet, that she has to come down to the coroner office and ID his mangled body because we can't compare it to his drivers liscence we pulled from his pocket? Perhaps you'd like to be there as she has to come in the room and say, "Yes, that is my son."? So, if you must, drive as you wish, however if you do crash, don't say you weren't forewarned, and may the law punish you to its furthest extent.
Happy motoring to all, and stay safe out there. And if you have nothing better to do than street race....maybe you should be "Cooking breufust ooo sumthin'"

I race from time to time- and on deserted streets too like you suggest (only two or three times). I don't pat myself on the back for my ingenuity though- it's still stupid, and I don't try to make excuses for it.

I dont race that often either and i sure dont pat myself on the back for my ingenuity. Everyone does there own thing. So yes i am serious, even thught there are still things that can go wrong when you race on a desserted road but you and the other racer ae outting yorselfs in danger and not any innocent bysrtandards. and i am not making excuses. So back off.I am just posting my opinion.
