Anyone using an Intercooler Nitrous Kit ?

It's marketed by Nitrous Express
NEX#20000 N-ter Cooler Nitrous System

N-tercooler! This unit sprays a fog of Nitrous Oxide across an intercooler heat exchanger! Gains as high as 60 HP can be realized!!!
$359.95

As for my decision on the regular Nitrous Kit
I think this "NEW" ZEX "WET" System is awesome.
Everything I want in a simple kit, with the safety of a wet system.
Turns out one of our Vendors sells them, (Paul @ REM)
I may buy it from him if we can agree on a price.

The NX intercooler won't work on our trucks. It was made primarily for imports. Acutally if you just run a small 50hp shot of nitrous you are basically doing the same thing, cooling the air intake charge. Personally though I would stay away from the Zex and Venom nitorus kits. I would go with the NX kit and get a nitrous program from Jim or Sal and you're set. They already have programs for the NX kit and the NX is already a proven kit!

Since you are running a 4# lower I would run a 75hp shot to be safe. This will add 75rwhp at the flip of a switich and should put you close to 500rwhp and in the high 11's in the 1/4. Plus it will be nasty on the street. You will be ordering a set of Nitto 555R's before long though!!

One question . Why?

If it did work it seemed like a good thing. Sort of like the Gen3 concept.

THANKS HANKFAN, GREAT INFO
BTW I run a 4lb lower plus a 2/3 upper in the warmer months

I appreciate your input and know it would be easier to just get one from Sal, Johnny, or Jim, but I Love the fact that everything’s built into the Zex Box, and I don't have to **** with those stupid Micro switches (been there done that) I also don't have to have solenoids and wires dangling all over. Also no button needed since it runs off the IAC AND LEARNS your WOT voltage, and will only go on then. I really like this kit and don't think it can be compared with the Venom Kit (which I've also heard bad things about) I will give it a little more thought, plus I need to talk to my tuner and get his opinion on the ZEX and what he has in mind for a program.
With Sal or Jim, I'd have to go for all new chips and programs, I Love Diablo too much to consider switching. (3 programs + extra Chip)
"RUNNIN' WITH THE DEVIL" AND PROUD OF IT

V,
I also don't understand why the intercooler Nitrous Kit wouldn't work for us, especially for guys like You and Gator with that Massive JDM Heat Exchanger, I would think it would work great ?

Vinnie- I am not sure of exactly why it won't work but someone on this board about a year ago tried to make it work and never could. The intercooler is used to cool the air intake charge just like a nitrous kit does. I think that it would be better just to buy a nitrous kit. Even if you only run a 50hp shot you are going to gain 50 rwhp and 4-5 tenths in the 1/4 for $800. Plus you won't have to par take in a 6 page blower debate!!! J/K

Question

With the new fluidyne heat exchangers I can't see why that wouldn't work either. Maybe when I get an exchanger I will give it a shot. Who knows. If anyone else has more info on this please share it. -Mat-

Maybe with the stock Heat exchanger it would not be as efficient , but with the fluidyne maybe it would work.

I have nothing against running Nitrous. In fact I want it , but this seems like something that could have potential.

Hey, guys are spending $300 for a plasma booster for 10 rwhp and $500 for a throttle body maybe 6 rwhp. this might be something that gives more then both for less.

Rob the NX install isn't bad at all and the wiring is not difficult at all. Below are some pics of my set-up.

Cool. Keep us posted. Oh yeah how do you like the heat exchanger>??? Do you think it was worth it>??? I am probably going to get one soon and would like to know. It sounds like it would be great especially in the hotter weather. Thanks, -Mat-

I am very happy with it. IMO it can only help. Not just at the track but for everyday driving.Cooler is better.

Go here. I wrote up a full how to. It is a easy do it yourself job that takes about 45 minutes.
