Everything is installed correctly. I'm going to replace the oil filter. The tanny is not pulling the oil from the pan. Maybe I cracked the filter or messed up the seal.

did you make sure the filter o-ring came off with the old filter? Might have got stuck in there not keeping a good seal? Just something to check

Iam thinking the o- ring on the filter also. Especially if the valve body was torqued down

Question

Did you drain the torque converter>??? If you drained the converter and are only putting in 7 qts like some said that is not enough fluid. This has to be something you are doing wrong I doubt it is a defective unit. Jack up the rear end and run the truck thru all the gears several times and then check the fluid once you lower it and the truck is on level ground. Just double and triple check everything you did. I am sure it came with instructions.......that is a very simple thing to do so just go over it again. -Mat-

Sounds like the seal from the old filter is still in the pump inlet, does the old filter have the peach colored seal on it?

I've pulled it out and reinstalled four times.
Factory tech or the original
Didn't drain the converter
only one O-ring on the filter and none left in trany
torqued the V/B to 90in/lb instuctions say 80-100in/lb
internal filter is in correctly
tried 2 different filters
Mercon 3 oil, 7qts
jack up the rear tires and ran it through the gears slowly
Nothing I have tried seemed to turn my tires. The trany doesn't even make any pressure

Are you using the correct filter for the 4x4 trans pan>??? Try it again with the original trans pan and original filter. Just to be sure stick a 90* pick up in the pump where the filter goes in to make sure nothing is up there. Only other thing I can think of is you drove the truck when it was malfunctioning and burned up the trans>??? Where do you live>??? Maybe if someone on the board lives near you they can take a look at it with you>??? -Mat-

Yes, I used the correct filter twice. I only drove it 1/4 mile.

Make sure nothing is in that hole then! It is hard to try and guess at things without the vehicle in front of me. -Mat-

Question Resolution?

Certified Drunk,
Did you find out what the problem was with your valve body?
I'm just curious because I'm going to install my FT VB in the next week or two. I've never heard of anyone having this trouble before so I'm anxious to know your results so I don't run into the same problem.

Thanks,

The tranny is DEAD may it RIP. It wasn't the Value body, because the original value body does the same thing. Everything was done correctly and it just died!
One good thing it got washed, waxed and vac'ed today plus I got doing it!
If I cant drive it, I sure can make it look good. All dressed up and nobody to ....
Anyway it will be fixed soon.

Man

All I got to say is you are one calm and collected guy... I wish I had your patience, and fortitude...

I would have been throwing a noose over the yardarm after the first drain and re-fill - what year is this truck ...?
