Question how often do you guys check/change your plugs?

I'm just a little worried after easterisland's thread. That and the fact that with my loud a$$ exhaust I don't think I'd be able to hear any exhaust leaks. I've ran my Denso IT20s with my 4# for about 3500 miles now and they were re-checked, gapped, and installed about 3000 miles ago.

So how often do you guys check and/or change your plugs? And what brand and gap? What levels of boost?

Thanks in advance,
me

check them every 1000 miles about unless I'm modding or going to the track.

change them when they need it. probably 5 times a year with NGK's and the denso's last longer for me.

wow every 1000 miles rtkilla? what densos are you running and how long have you had them in w/o touching them? or are you back to ngk's?

btw, if i switch from IT20s to IT22s, does the gap change and do i need a reburn at all? i plan on running the same boost (4#s over) but i've heard more and more people run IT22s over the IT20s nowadays....with 4#ers. correct me if i'm wrong...

@8700 miles on mine, I've changed them twice and already have another set of IT-22's ready for spring. I run IT-22's with a 4lb pulley all winter (keeps me richer) and with 6-7 lbs all summer.
Works perfect in both cases for me.

I would definately be leary about all those plug changes. Just more of a chance to strip or cross the threads. I check for tightness and check a plug here and there.

Run TR6's and change 'em, at max, every 10k miles.

Why the heck do you guys change your plugs so often? Every few thousand miles is crazy. I've got 17,000 miles on mine and have not even thought about changing them.

However, as soon as I get my 4# pulley, which should be very soon, I will be changing them. But if adding a pulley also adds the need to change the plugs every few thousand mile, I may reconsider!

I don't understand changing the plugs so often. I put in BR7's 25,000 miles ago. Except for the slight rough idle (that has been there since I installed them) they never miss a beat. I pull one every so often and check it but I'm not changing them until I get a miss.

Every 1000 miles?

That's like every couple of weeks for me . I change mine once a year.

anybody ...

First off I am hard pressed to believe anybody changes their plugs every 1000 miles (come on) unless their drag racing every other day - and if you really do - then you need some professional help as you obviously have an obsession to spend money...

What Jerry said--same for me and my L. I do have 8 Denso IT24s waiting though.

Every 1000 miles I pull a few random plugs and check them. So far they've all stayed in which is a good thing!
