check out the panasonic 7200u, it plays, dvd's, dvd-r, dvd-rw, cd, cd-rw, and mp3.

I just picked it up this weekend to replace my stolen kenwood z919. I do not have it installed yet so I cannot comment on quality.

Any of them can hook up to the Nav unit. The Nav unit is another $1200 or so.

NVE-851A ... buy the DVD one, the CD one is kind of a waste.

heres the CVA1003, it's nice but i'm thinking of returning it and getting the 1006 like the rest of these guys, theres has better graphics and more options. you can buy alot of different brands at this price range, alpine, sony, panisonic, but if you hook up PS2, dvd, etc. i dont think the pic quality can touch alpines. oh and another place where you can watch tv is when you go out to dinner with your girl and she wants to eat there and theres a 45min wait, you take there little remote buzzer thing and watch a movie in the car, (brings dinner and a movie to a whole new level)

I've got the Pioneer unit and don't regret it one bit. Here's a pic of the unit...

Damn...one of these days I'm going to figure out how to shrink the size of my pictures!!

absolute foolish waste of $2000 in mod money...

How many times does that happen - enough to justify spending $2000 on a freakin' car DVD I think not ... It's an incredible WASTE of mod funds completely ridiculous - sorry ...

But if I had money flowing out of my *** like some people seem to then I probably would put one in for kicks ...

well, it happens more than you think, and actually it did not cost $2000, it was $1000 for the tv, free for the PS2 i allready had, and $300 for the 6 disc cd, so with install and everything i would up it to $1500 for the whole thing.... it is worth it, because it is a mod a big one, if you are an avid car show participant like i am, sure alot of "performance" minded guys will love the big blower pulley, slicks, exhaust etc. but how do you please the younger crowd?? the people that dont know much about engine mods?? this way you get the best of both worlds, and outside of car shows when you take long trips it makes time go by faster, and for the passenger instead of worrying about the others driving they can relax and play a game or watch a movie.... so i dont know why you think it's a waste, it's a very useful device, then down the line, i would get the navagation system to go with it which is also useful when you travel around as much as i do, i spend alot of time in my car probably at least 2 hr's a day driving and i'll be damned if i didn't have something to make it fun, i would go crazy in my car if i just had to sit there in traffic, not doing anything, listing to music that sounds like crap through stock stuff.

sorry for the long message, im just venting on how i think it was all worth it. i did not go with a touch screen or any of those $$$ really pricey ones, i just wanted a good quality screen, and i dont have money growing out of my behind, i wish i did, but at least this way, it gives me alittle determination to work harder and want to work to get that money.

If you are looking for a TV/Multimedia controller (and have a seperate FM tuner), you might want to look into the IVA-D900, just came out in 2003. It has the MOST pixels of -any- LCD for a car, 7", multi-input/output control, etc. Kinda overkill for most truck applications, but some folks want the best.

I got my for Navigation mainly, havn't hooked anything else up to it.

Daniel
Actually it supported both of the changers before, it now supports XM =)

Yes, but the DVD statement stands.

It recognizes them as CD changers. You can still control it, but it won't say "DVD". (this is the 6disc one). The 801 software update supports the word "DVD" on it (and can detect the units automatically to title it right).

The 800 supports the TUA-T020XM. You just need a KCA-121B to hook it up....though it definately looks interfaces nicer with an 801. One reason I want to upgrade.

Daniel

PS
You can double check this at Alpine Tech.
