SVT Products $450 Price addition?

I'm having a problem with my purchase of a 2003 SVT lightning to replace the 00'.

After taking my money on X-plan, or $29,667.70, I was informed by the dealership that the vehicle I'm purchasing has what they call an "SVT mandatory $450 surcharge", that isn't from the dealership but added by SVT themselves.

This IS NOT on the invoice, but the internet sales manager claims that SVT requires they charge $450 for any SVT on ANY Ford plan.

has anyone else heard of this?

If not, does anyone know of an X-plan freindly dealer in CA/NV/Utah/AZ/WA/OR?

THANKS ALOT GUYS!!!!!!

Berto

LOL

I understood they COULDNT charge any fees on "Plans"

Sounds like the dealer ship trying to make back the $$ they pay to be an SVT dealer.

Ask the dealer rep to kiss you before he bends you over the desk!!

I've dealt with many dealers on many car purchases for many people, and this is your typical 'smoke and mirrors' routine. I have 'never' seen an upcharge like you describe on a SVT vehicle. Any such upcharge is built into the pricing structure of the vehicle itself. After all, SVT is a 'division' of Ford, not an outside tuner/customizer. X-plan deals usually don't render big cash surpluses to dealers, so many of them get creative and play games like you're seeing. I just bought a 2003 Expedition for a friend on X-plan and had the dealer rep play a similar game. I told him to pound sand and stick to our deal or we'd go buy the Expo elsewhere. In the end, I got it for what we should have been paying. Stick to your guns with your dealer, or go elsewhere if he continues jerking you around.

I work with several SVT dealers, and I have never heard of this.

A/Z/X plan prices are clearly marked on the invoice, and you just add tax and title fees.

X plan lightning

I bought my 02 lightning off the X plan.. total cost was
28,964. Im in Houston Tx and the dealership was in Kentucky.
The dealership was called Quality Ford, located in Princeton
Kentucky... The SVT guy there is Jeremy Lewis, but the guy I
worked with was named Todd...He is the Gen Manager.
Awesome dealership.

I had to buy the truck out of Kentucky, because I could not
find a True Blue anywhere and no one would let me use
the X plan on a lightning.

I didnt pay any 475 surcharge... or what ever that is
Let me know if you want more info

This is another reason that dealships get a chitty rep.
Trying to screw a customer on a car sale. All they had to say was No X-plan

Personally I'd jump on that becuase your lucky enough to get x-plan plus $450. Better than paying the 37.5K they want around here.

I just bought an 03 and I didn't pay that $450 instead they tried getting me for $179 in glass etching fees and $160 in paperwork fees - stopped the $160 and got the $179 back ...

Do your homework and find the A/X/Z plan administration telephone number. Call, verify, and get a reps name and mention you will be calling her back in a day or so.

Head to the dealer and politely ask said salesman/finance chucklehead to call and ask for the rep by name then verify this 'mandatory fee' with you sitting in their office on speaker phone.

Sit back and enjoy the fireworks.

Have them set it up as a conference call so that we can all call and listen in...

Tell them no way on the 450. I just bought mine on 12/21/02 a 2003. 29,800, plus taxes and all the other stuff. (was 29800 because of the soft cover they had on it) Those dealers would never ever see me again. (unless the gave me something else in return, for trying to screw me)

Unfortunately you're in a possible no win situation. The best bet would be to call around and try and find another dealer that will do the X Plan. From others on this forum though, it seems that it is very difficult in southern California to find a dealer to accept X Plan on an SVT vehicle. I see you are willing to seek out one of the bordering states and maybe you will have more luck with that, but remember, the farther away you go, you have some expenses to consider that may offset that $450.00 upcharge. It sucks they are trying to add on a charge like that, but it may be your best deal over all. Good luck in your purchase and hopefully you'll get what you want.

Thanks Navi, but the dealer this is at is already a distance away, in Oregon. So, traveling some is fine with me really.
