Actually, what your being exposed to by some of Navimans posts is basic human relations skills. To put it another way, ever heard the old saying that you can draw more flies with honey than vinegar?

Here is a little story.....
An old bull and his son where out grazing one day and came to the top of a hill. They looked down in the meadow and saw a whole heard of young nubile cows grazing on succulent grasses.
The young bull looked at his dad and said, "Look at all those cows, let's run down there and chase them around untill we catch one and screw her."
To this the older wiser bull replied, "How about we just meander down there slowly and screw them all".

HMMMM, I've never been screwed by a dealer. I guess some folks are just better negotiators than others.
The trick in negotiating a good deal is in realizing that every successful deal has to have multiple winners.
By the way, have you any idea what the overhead runs in the automotive business? When you are talking about how much something should cost, you really have to know how much it costs to support and run the business that provides this something to you.
OK, I'm done now. I get paid alot of money for teaching sales skills...no more freebies...LOL.

I'd be willing
to sit down with someone in the automotive business to find out how much of what I pay for a vehicle goes towards overhead and how much goes to profit.

And if they did spend the time with you to do this, would you then want to determine what you consider to be a fair profit for them to make?

Oh no Gator, they should be willing to teach you about running a car dealership at no charge. Just for the pleasure of selling you a vehicle at cost...LMAO.

Lightstruck,
It's amazing how you have me all figured out on just these few posts. Sadly, you are way off base though. One of your problems I have noticed is that you are quick to blame everyone else but yourself. I assume you are young and will eventually learn how to better handle situations and learn the skills of negotiation. Rocks is pretty much right on in his story. You are definitely the young bull who catches his one "cow", while in the meantime Rocks and I will be enjoying the whole herd. Hopefully you will learn one of these days.
The great part of negotiating a deal is that usually both parties want to come away feeling they are satisfied. Otherwise, why would either party make the deal. One thing in buying a car is the dealer doesn't have to sell to you, and you don't have to buy from them. If a dealer can get more for it, then that's their perogative. If you can get a better deal elsewhere, then I would always encourage a person to do that. Nobody can force you to make a deal that you don't want. As long as you know that going in, your negotiations should be much more successful.
Thanks for the backup Rocks. Here's a beer for you.
