Do you have aftermarket floor mats? I've heard of them slipping forward and causing the gas pedal to stick.

Ya I thought of the TPS having a problem but it was a one time thing. I would think if my TPS was faulty it would happen more. Hmmm I wonder if it is the TPS.
Thanks I will look into it.

I had that happen to my 99 XLT 5.4. It happened the exact same way as your story. I was coming up to a red lignt, and thought the brakes were bad. After I stopped it I let up on the brakes and darn near hit the car in front of me. Then I noticed the RPM about 2k. I was getting on the freeway, but when I got off it was still high.

It was still under warranty, so I took it to the dealer. I have the paperwork here. It was 12/27/99 at 11k miles. The part they put on was F75Z 9F715 AA Valve ASY-THROTTLE A

The note says "replace I.A.C"

Chickenears,

That happened to me once. I floored my dads truck when i was younger, and the bottom of the pedal got stuck on the floor mat. Scared the out of me.
