Without knowing what his "something" is there is no way to know. His "something" could be a 150shot (very simple and easy mod on a stang) and he would KILL you..... or his something could be a filter, then you should win.

Find out what he has before you race him, oh and of course only race at the track yada yada or something like that.

Also take into count his driving skill if its a stick, because if he cant drive it doesn't matter how fast the car is.

This is best settled at a track if at all possible.

3 reasons:

1. Safety!
2. Your License!
3. You should be able to get a 2.0 or less 60' time and I would guess the mustang will be closer to 2.4. I never see them hook at the track unless they have good drag radials or slicks.

Stock for stock you would kill it.

a 02gt's not going to beat you unless your on the highway or you spin horribly bad off the line, even then you'd probably catch up to him before you hit 80. the only mods that would make a significant difference on that mustang are, high end a blower or nitrous( you can hear the blower and check for the bottle), or low end a set of gears such as 373's or 410's really wake those cars up. any mods such catbacks, filters, u/d pulleys and you should own him, especially if your modded. i have a 02L and my friend a 02 stang, its a awesome car but i beat him when we were stock. they can be faster without a blower or nitrous but it would take a good combo like gears, pulleys, exhaust, chip, etc....
dont talk any smack back, let your taillights do the talking, then open your passenger side door cause his G/F will want to hop in....
be careful anyways, take it to track or secluded road, own him up till 80 then get off it, its not worth wrecking your truck or his car, even if he does have a big mouth

if its an 02 he prolly wouldnt have nitrous because of warranty, unless hes supported by his parents. like they said, listen to the car, if it sounds really good he might have LT headers with full exhaust, still id be youd beat him, unless you hear a slight twirling whine coming out of the hood, that would be a centrifugal s/c. i think thats what most people put on stangs

Yeah, Yeah, not an L owner i know. But, let me say this please. I see you are in HS, what a great age! Anyways, i have zipped my share of dead HS kids into body bags, not a pleasant thing to do. So, befire you race, think of your parents, or loved ones before you do. Think of their face when i have to call them and tell them that you are dead. Think of that, really hard. They dont deserve that, nor do your friends. And just to add some influence to this point, i will add a picture. 2 kids, racing, late model Mustang GT, both DEAD. Think of them, next time you wanna race on the street. Think of their family's.

I hope you make the right decision, take it to the track, besides, you KNOW you could spank him!

I have PLENTY more pictures, that are VERY graphic if this does not change your mind, i'll be more than happy to E-mail them to you.

Chances are if he has a '02 GT in high school he's on the parents payroll
