Adjustable A/F on the fly
Adjustable A/F on the fly
Check this out. Looks like some possibilities here. Check out the ARC2 unit.

Its a hardware version of the Mafterburner that lacks full functionality of the rpm band and raising or lowering your fuel. Mafter uses the easiest software in the world to control your a/f. Its almost idiot proof. Better off with a Mafterburner and save yourself a few bucks in the process. My 02 anyways
I like it, I like it. Would be nice to mount the unit, a sensor and guage, and be able to adjust AND SEE your A/F's on the fly.

Seriously guys. You can make a pull on the dyno. Check out the chart.. Increase fuel here because your lean, or decrease fuel here because your fat. Sure, you could muck things up if your a complete idiot but the majority of you do still have some common sense. I think you would be spending a long time fine tweaking with ths ARC2 because the way you make your adjustments. Besides, all it takes is one of your buddies to twist the **** and your screwed. Or someone at a car wash.

i have been researching this unit, the MAFafterburner, and others like it. The ways these things work is they alter the reading from the MAF to the computer to eiter richen up or lean out your a/f ratio. That sounds harmless but according to sal, the maf [along with other sensors] is used to tell the tranny when to shift and do other things. so using one of these things has the potential to totaly mess up your transmission performance and possibly kill your transmission

Well, theres quite a few Lightnings out there that run this unit without effects on their tranny. Not to mention all of the mustangs with auto's whos tranny gets their info the exact same way. No reports of failure.
Hi,
Not to disagree with what Sal said BUT it is possible to make air/fuel corrections with the MAFterburner without seriously affecting tranmission shift patterns.
It is true that by altering the MAF signal, you end up altering calculated load and "calculated load" is used to determine fuel, spark, transmission shift points, etc..
However, unless you are doing major curve scaling, you shouldn't run into problems. We have a bunch of MAFterburners running on auto mustangs and also on a number of Lightnings without problems. The majority of people are using the MAFterburner only to do fine tuning.
Hope this helps,
MJ
