I've been getting 3 or 4 a day lately too Luckily my anti-virus software catches them, although I would never open an email attachment from someone that I didn't know. There's lots of losers out there with nothing better to do I guess.

It may have been me , if it was I'm sorry. I have just gotten rid of it.
I was infected with it just a couple of days ago (around the 12th). My wife opened an email - and you know the rest.

I'm would be willing that most if not all software that those viruses attack are already patched and no longer vunerable to a system set up by a competent sysadmin ...
Thats REALLY funny...

Lets change the words.

I have 6 or 7 PC's that I use for email. I dont now and havent in years had a problem with viruses. As part of my job I open viruses relatively regularly....

Sorta like the gun argument:
Guns dont kill people- People kill people.

Its not the operating system its the operator

The reason Linux is so virus resistant is No grandmothers are using it. No 12 year olds, none of the clueless masses.

I wasnt referring to anyone here when I said I had recieved threatening emails. I was referring to the anonymous crackpots that send me stuff. If any of you guys need help with this stuff let me know...

Doug, this is very very true, plus most viruses are written with windows in mind as most users at work, and most home useres do use windows, ie, the virus is written to attack the specific target, you wouldn't hunt for dear in the middle of detroit, you'd hunt for dear in the middle of the woods.

the thing with linux though, is that it can only infect your users stuff, and any good linux user doesnt surf under superuser...so most virii have a super hard time crashing or permenently damaging a linux/unix box. most virii are easily ridded from unix. is very true though, none computer illiterate would use linux

Cool

Since 5:00 am our (5) Exchange (email) servers have deleted the Klez virus 5 times and Sobig virus 4 times. It's been a light day compared to most.

The Klez virus is the most persistant Ba$tard that I've ever seen.

I get two or three a day but Norton WHACKS 'em and
quarantines them ...

You're right ... KLEZ is pernicious ...

Same here, Norton System Works catches everything that tries to get into my machine. I'm sold on it.
