Hey guys-

Have some info to disclose but I am going to wait a day or to just to be safe for reasons I will later state. All I can say is the best $700 dollars you could spend on your motor is replacing the stock rods w/ manleys. They run right about $700 for a set of 8, but are rated to withstand 900+ hp. Then your *** is completely covered. And in response to the guy w/ the chip/contact/ford wanting $7100 for a new motor problem, here are a few words: First of all, all chips installed, or later bought are refurbished, and I have heard of many people ordering new ones and being sent supposedly "new" ones w/ the contacts scraped clean. Also, you can find the 5.4 liter fully built block for $3400 on the net and around $3600 through ford. I'm sure $7100 includes install, but that still seems pretty steep. Built 5.4L's can be found anywhere in the $3000 to $4000 range and can easily run 500+ hp. Sean Hyland has one, I think. But I would put up an arguement stating you replaced your chip due to problems, and know nothing of how the contacts could have been cleaned. They may want proof of a receipt, but it is worth a try. Also, dont give up try another dealer, you may get a tech come and inspect the truck who wont even pull the ECU apart, just'll pop off the black plug to make sure a chip isnt plugged in...I'll disclose more later, but this has happened to quite a few. All I can say is good luck, and do extensive homework before tuning, as many of us have not.

I could have taken it to any dealer in arizona because my truck was completely stock when i took it in and being broke down on side of road when i called roadside assistance, when you play you have to have a plan if something happens, i had conformal coating bought a month after buying my truck so if something happened i'd have it. and everything i put on could be converted back to stock.I played the dealer, i admit I could have went anywhere and got away with it.I went to extreme lengths to get away with it, was it worth it ? YES. I didn't want a $30,000 paper weight in my garage with a voided warranty.

I would like to know what coating u used to put back on the ECU because I'm having a problem with a Rod i believe that is ready to go because the motor is making a knocking sound near the driver side oil pan. My truck only has 2071 miles on it and Ford is giving me a bunch of **** and having a Ford engineer coming out to look at it. That way I have no problems with Ford with having the motor replaced.

Thanks

My L was born in early February. i am going to go to the nearest SVT dealer and see if I can get themotor replaced. I really dont want to drive the truck now. What do you guys think? Is it worth the trip? Are there any owners here who have the motor replaced i their truck yet? I have 24,000 miles on my L now and dont have hardly anymods. At least if you get the motor replaced you will get the new heads so you dont have to worry about it spitting plugs. HELP

Your truck was modded and it blew. Your dealer says no warranty?? Guess it's time to step up the plate and pay for your mistakes. That's what I did.

It is an expensive hobby we have undertaken. If you can't afford to pay for everything you do, (I damn sure can't) then don't do it. I am waiting till my truck is paid for then I will mod. For now, I will have to settle for a measly 380 horse power and 450 ft lbs of torque. But I will get anything fixed that is broken with no "late-night demodding". It boils down to this. How fast is your wallet? If you can't afford to put a new engine in, then I guess your wallet is as slow as your busted *** truck.
