spare king ranch wheels
spare king ranch wheels
A guy had four new KR wheels on ebay...with tires I think, but I don't want tires...they didn't sell. I am contacting him to work something out because I'd like to have one so I can do 5 tire rotation. Any 3 others interested in this, maybe we can somehow buy the set and split it up?
Mine has goodyear RT/S I think , but the ones for sale weren't even Goodyear I think. I suspect Ford uses different tires at different times. I am trying to buy the wheels only because my spare tire matches now, it just doesn't have a matching KR wheel.
BTW, were you up in Troy on john R road late suday afternoon? I saw a blue KR.

nope wasn't me. i actually haven't even driven my Thomas on the freeway yet. i drove him home all the way from Oregon Ohio on Telegraph. i am determined to break him in properly like i did my jetta tdi which gets 55mpg because i broke her in correctly.
besides the roads were and still are wet. i can't have thomas on wet roads yet. i am not ready for that. yes i am a bit ****. but he will.....eventually go off road....maybe in five years....na kidding...next summer for sure.
ya know i didn't even notice if my spare had the same rim as the truck. my truck is at home safely in my heated garage right now.

My guess is you have a spare that matches the tires on the other 4 , but a steel wheel. I planned to mount my spare on a matching KR wheel and rotate all 5. Mine is my daily driver, probably 18,000 miles per year, so it will make a difference to get that 5th tire into the mix.
I went to school at University of Toledo....kinda near Oregon, OH.

well, i won't drive mine as a daily vehicle. especially when i have three other cars to choose from, one of which gives me 55 mpg i would be crazy to drive Thomas every day. but i am still interested in the rim. i can always take it and have it mounted and balanced. i would do it myself since i inherited all the stuff to do it with, but i don't have a clue as to how to do it.
question totally off the subject, but do you happen to know how to run a cnc lathe and vertical milling machine or know anyone in our area who does?

I looked at the ad again and the tires were BFG 265-60-17 which I think is standard equipment on a 2WD KR....but wheels are same as 4WD. Again, I hope to convince hime to sell rims only.
No, I haven't run a CNC mill (desk jockey)but that shouldn't be too hard to find. The area is full of machine shops with so much automotive in the area.

cool, good luck. i would deffinately like a rim though so count me in. if i ever did get a flat i would at least like my spare to match. that and since i payed for the tire i would like to use the five tire rotation to get some use out of it anyways.
at current prices we can get between $6-$9 for the steel rim at a scrap yard. (it is my business to know this kinda stuff)
oh and the reason i asked about the machines is because i recently inherited them from my recently killed father and i wanted to make some stuff to dress-up my engine like he used to do for me. i never learned how to do anything more then turn them on and run them. basically to keep them from rusting when he and my mom went on vacation.

I was looking at those wheels on ebay earlier and was going to bid on them but got too busy at work and forgot. I wanted them to mount snow tires. Let us know what he'll take for them as a baseline price, so if I find more, I'll know what to offer someone else in the future. Thanks!
Hey logical,
Count me in for one of those jewels. Just let me know what it's gonna cost and I'll send you the dough or what ever you are comfortable with.
I wouldn't want to part with too much so if you can try to let me know how much before you bite the hook I would appreciate it. If you can't get in touch with me then I will go with your better judgement that the rims couldn't be had at a better price and I won't back out.
Thanks

sorry, but the deal is dea. i got a response from they guy and he wants to seel tires and wheels together (even though they are not mounted, which I find odd...they are both supposedly new takeoffs from the same vehicle) and he wants $800. The wheels are $200 each new from what i unbderstand and the tires are of no value to me and probably all of you so.....I'm out.
I do still plan one way or another to get into a 5 tire rotation if I can land a reasonable wheel. At $200 bucks though it doesn't make sense when all I gain is the use of an otherwise unused $125 tire.

Well, that bites...to bad though....i was under the impression that to replace our at/s tires would cost about $250 a tire. am i way off. i really have no clue....never had tires like this before and it was only a bit over $90 to upgrade all five from the standard at/r that come on the kr.
Actually he claims to have a 800 dollar offer (plus shipping) for the whole lot....It just seemed that by the time we shipped and swapped them all over the country and amongst ourselves...even if we sold the tires to offset the costs we were not getting a great enough deal to setttle for used. Plus...call me paranoid, but I still am baffeled by why the tires are off the rims.
Maybe the tires are not mounted to the rims 'cause it's almost impossible to hide something inside the hollow part of the tire when it's not mounted. It may be a federal requirement since all the terrorist crap has occured. Other thing may be that the guy is willing to part with the seperate pieces but won't disclose that until his options start to run out.
Just some thoughts. BTW, does anyone know how much a KR 10 spoke rim would cost from Ford anyway. If we all have the tires we want anyway, then maybe we should just purchase rims directly from Ford or even better from the rim manufacturer if they don't have exclusive rights arranged with Ford.
