KR "saddle bag" magnets...

I am wondering if anybody has a good solution for the weak magnets for the "saddle bag" behind the front seats. The magnets on mine won't stay clasped. Has anybody changed them out for stronger magnets or came up with a solution to keep the saddle bag closed?

No real solution at all, since I don't know what they look like or how they are installed (what it would take to replace one). But, I DO know that Home Depot sells extremely powerful ceramic magnets in various sizes. (I don't think you can "cut" these things down without hurting them).

I certainly remember them... some of the other old timers will remember them as well.

My 2001 had them... those were the 'true' saddle bags on the backs of the seats. They were sharp... I really miss that look -- much nicer than the pouches that we have today.

Anyway, as for the magnets -- not sure what to tell you. Frankly, one can't help but wonder if that's the reason that they went away from them (the lack of closure) (mine did exactly the same thing).

You can probably figure something out but, I'm not sure how you get a magnet inside of the flap itself without some kind of cutting/stitching.

It'd be great information for future KR'ers if you come up with a solution... of course, it'll only benefit those who had the first KRs. ... Man, I miss my 2001.

Welp, I will take a shot and figure this one out. If I can build houses for a living, I think I can come up with something!

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

I don't have them, since I have a rear bench, but, I would think that you could find some "Large" sized snaps, such as those found on Western Style shirts that you simply tap into place with a small hammer. I've done it many times with shirts and jackets, and would think that would keep them closed.

Good luck
