King Ranch not built at Ford plant

Had a guy tell me today that when the seats and two tone was done to my truck it was sent to some other plant and then delivered to the Ford lot. I call BS on that. Im pretty sure my King Ranch was completely assembled at the Kansas plant like the sticker on my window says.

Am I correct or is he?

It's possible the window sticker could be wrong, but the door sticker is supposed to be the "gold standard". The VIN has the assembly plant in it. I suppose it's possible that Kansas sends KR's out to a subcontractor to do trim work like seats and colors, but that seems pretty wasteful.

I'd expect the KR seats to be delivered to the assembly plant, and since assembly plants are completely set up for painting, I sure wouldn't ship a whole truck somewhere else for that job!

But, I have no concrete proof one way or another.

Ive seen Lariat F-150s with the same paint scheme as my truck. No way they are sending them to another plant just to paint two tone and bolt in some seats. Hell if you notice the KR seats look the same as the Lariat leather and cloth seats just covered in King Ranch.

I think the guy I was talking to is crazy....

Unfortunately, your King Ranch 'expert' is mistaken. All of the KR's have been (and are currently) manufactured out of the Kansas City Assembly facility. The KR Castano seats, for 2001-2003 were manufactured by a company named Lear. The 2005+ are made by another 'interior systems' company (the name escapes me).

As for 'out of assembly plant' painting -- negative. All of the painting is done in house (even the Harley Davidson Super Duty's Ghost Flames are painted within the factory (by one guy)).

All of the new Platinum Editions are built at the Rouge (Dearborn) Assembly plant. All KR's roll out of Kansas City.

I live in the next town over from Claycomo... it takes about 10-15 minutes from my house to get to the plant. I've had lots of friends who have or are still working there.
