Can I use this on my leather ?

I recently aquired an 07 KR Screw, was always a Lariat guy before but I have to say I like this truck. The fellow that had the truck before me treated it like crap you would not have believed the state of it when I got it. I only have it for 10 more months and then it gies back on the lease . Without order the special KR conditioner and yes I read the Leather care thread do you guys thing any of these would do to bring it back to life a bit ?

Big I can't view the links you put up. Goes to some weird page asking for zip codes to find the best deal.

Got some pictures of your seats?

Best way for the elders to provide advice is to show what you are working with.

I figure why experiment on leather purchased with my dime. This is what the manufacturer recommends. Works great.

Absolutely !!

Some of the more recent members of the forum might not know what happened when the King Ranch variant was first introduced.

When Ford Approached the King Ranch to strike an agreement to enable the use of the Santa Gertrudis cattle and the resultant Castano leather, part of the deal was to agree a formula to protect and condition the leather.
The saddle shop conditioner wasn't cobbled together in a shed on the ranch !

It was the result of a lot of experimentation before the correct formulation was agreed between Ford and the Saddle Shop.

Here are some pictures of what the leather currently looks like, as you can see the steering wheel is almost black. I also cant believe how the other fellow scratched the seats and how easy the leather seems to mark. Any and all input would be appreciated. I went ahead and ordered a bottle of the KR stuff, but need to know best way to apply it based on my pics.

Ok, my recomendation.

you need to start with the hot towel spa treatment. Starting with the steeringwheel. It will come out pretty easy but you need to do it, several times and on small sections of the wheel.

If you don't know what I am taking about let me know. Its pretty easy, take hot water, soak a rag in it, wring it out, place over a section of the steeringwheel....allow to get in the leather...then lightly rub it. Repeat, open a beer, drink some beer. Then take the rag in a bucket and rinse it out, then back in the hot, then back on the wheel. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Do each section like that. Then do the seats the same way. Armrest etc.

Then allow to FULLY dry. They will lighten up....after fully dry, apply the KR leather conditioner. Repeat.

That should get you on your way.

PS, that is how my seats look minus the stains.

EDIt, if the OP doesn't want to use KR C, try Leather CPR.

So hot hot water ring out and then leave on the wheel for a bit. I believe I get it and will try it as soon as the cream arrives next week. Is there any point in doing the steam bath to get prepared before the cream comes or am I wasting my time ?

Absolutely, go for it, it will just make it easier when it arrives. You'll prob see how it works and want to do it again. Mine gets VERY light in color when I spa treat it before I put conditioner on it. In fact, mine is do for a spa treatment, so are my front seats.

The reason why it is dark is b/c of oil from the skin and dirty hands etc.

Let me elaborate a little.

Get two pans/small buckets etc. Fill them both with HOT water. Take your towel (I use Microfiber but I am OCD) drop in one side, get the water out, then wrap around a section. At first it will take a little bit to get the area damp, do not rub right away, allow the heat and water to work. When it starts to feel cool, take that towel off and dump in the rinse bucket....wring that out and put back in the hot side, wring out again and place in the same place on the wheel and wrap it. After this time you should start to lightly rub it...do not press hard. Your towel will start to get nasty, rinse it out, and keep going.

When it dries it may look light in color and have funny feel to it.

If you don't feel totally comfortable with this method, do only a small section. (Remember, when it is wet, it will be very dark)

don't forget about the threads, and where it is sew together, that gets dirty too. Your rinse water will be dirty.

I have seen this method take several hours just on the steering wheel. It takes patience to bring these back from some neglect.

I hope that RockPick and or other elders are around to review this thread so they can add their 02 on this.

How I learned this was from reading the KR leather care section in the KR area.

If you haven't done that, take some time to read through it, lots of KR data in there.

Get some after photos.

I documented my steering wheel spa treatment adventure. You can check it out here

Your wheel can be cleaned, just be patient. Those seats can be cleaned up too, using the same method.

Again, be patient. And, it'll take a lot of beer. I recommend a lawn chair in the garage while you wait.

Big I absolutely love the KR Conditioner and think you will be very happy with it. It has a great smell as well. Good luck on getting it cleaned up. Other than the steering wheel I don't think the seats looks that bad. A few marks add character to it.
