Here is something in the form of an observation:

"Americans are not as interested in world affairs as their international counterparts."

And one that would be hard to counter, given that study after study shows that many, if not most, US citizens can't identify more than a few states on a map of their own country, let alone nations on a globe. Note that I did not counter that point, much as I wish that I could.

Here, on the other hand, is a barbed insult slapped across every face present, and in response to exactly nothing:

"Another answer may be that Americans often do not have a world perspective believing that that what pertains within your shores equals what the rest of the world thinks and understands.
As you all must surely realise now, the world is changing and that belief is not sustainable any more...even if it was in the first place !!"

In other words, party is over you self-absorbed morons. Totally devoid of class in my opinion and very disappointing, frankly.

I travel internationally to earn my living, having been in more countries than could be counted on the fingers and toes of my family of four, and in most of them dozens of times each. I deal with anti-American sentiment everywhere I go. Seems the entire world is waiting to tell each and every one of us that we're a bunch of low-brow war mongers. If I'm on someone else's soil, I really have no choice but to hear them out. The last thing I need is to come into an F-150 forum and take on an extra helping of such nonsense. Again, all of this in response to what offense committed? I'll tell you again: nothing.

One of the main things I see as deeply troubling is how much we are hated from within our own borders these days. I had someone recently tell me that our Constitution isn't serving us particularly well anymore and that we ought to convene a panel of "experts" to write a new one. There was a day, and one for which I long, when no one present would have even so much as shot me a dirty look for slapping her to the ground where she stood for making that kind of a remark to anyone, let alone a veteran of foreign wars (that's right, plural - I qualified for my VFW membership on more than one continent).

Those of you who think you are somehow improving what you see as a bad situation by publicly and vocally joining the anti-American chorus need to reevaluate your thought processes. I, for one, am sick to death of hearing from you.

Now back to endless fretting over our leather, shall we? Who thinks they have a good shot at a warranty claim? I wanna hear all about it, every sordid detail...

The countries that know where we are want to invade us and knock us off our perch. Russia, China, Mexico, ect, ect... Those that dont, are third world and backwards. The Middle East will always hate us. Goes back to the crusades, and fighting over Israel and Jerusalem. NOTHING can be done to fix this view cept' a Nuclear cleansing.

Most Countries forget that they would be speaking German if not for the USA. Selective memory on their parts? Government revising history? Maybe we need to invade more countries?

Not sure how to respond this one...ESPN is reporting that Tony Romo went to Mexico with Jessica Simpson...they say this could affect the game Saturday with NY.

Lost ALL respect for you on this paragraph. Silence is considered a form of consent. Grow a SET, and set her straight! Maybe you are part of the problem. You lost a perfectly good opportunity to educate

Silence again? Call your wife, ask her for your nuts back. I should not be so hard on ya since it seems that being PC has infiltrared our society over the past few decades, and even an old vet like you has let it affect your tongue.

Nice, your wife accepted your request. Keep them nuts handy, we need more people speaking like this. The truth is offensive to some...USE IT!

Because of you serving OUR wonderful country, we can view our leather as top priority. Thank you for defending this indulgence!

Good post, and I agree with ya mostly. But I am disappointed that you did not bi***slap her!

On contrer mon frere! One cannot ride the fence forever...otherwise it will end up cutting ya in half.

Peacemaking is part of the problem. You gotta choose what ya believe, and stick to your guns.

Not trying to offend you. Just making a point.

Amen Brother! I've lost too many friends who were sworn to "Protect and defend....". I've always felt that our freedom to see what needs fixing in our Country and the ability to act on it is what sets us apart.

Thanks for the reply. Things are fine. My wife is a sports nut period. She graduated law school this past June and passed the NY Bar exam, the only bar she would voluntarily pass. She is currently working for a law firm in NJ. She is also taking the NJ Bar exam next month. I decided to pay the ultimate sacrifice and retire so we can move closer to her job. Now all we have to do is sell our house here.

How are things in your neck of the woods? All is well I hope. I see you still take care of everyone around here.

Things aren't too shabby around here. We had our first kiddo back in July. She's growing like a weed. Other than that DRAMATIC change in our lives, it's pretty much quid pro quo.

Let that wife of yours know that there's an excellent environmental 'guy' down this way if she ever needs assistance with anything! I work with lawyers more than I care to acknowledge...

Glad to hear that all is well with you and yours... Congrats to the wifey!
