When I clean my seats with a warm damp ringed towel, am I suppose to see dye on the towel? Its not dirt, unless all the dirt is the same color as the seats. Same thing happens when I apply KR conditioner. What gives??
It could be dirt. Where do you live? And do you drive w/ the windows down?
It shouldn't be dye. I've cleaned the heck out of those KR seats and only ever seen a slight amount of dye come up. Certainly never w/ just a damp cloth.

Well, its not dirt. The dye on the forward top section of the passenger seat is coming off on every towel I use. I have cleaned it with Lexol, a slightly damp cloth, conditioned it with KR, Leather CPR and everytime, no matter how slightly I apply pressure, the color of the seat comes off on the rag. Very strange. What could cause this?

RockPick?
Or maybe they just over-did things a little? Do you get the impression that the leather is taking on a different look as this dye comes up or could it just be excess dye that didn't soak in?

Lexol CLEANER has ruined more than one steering wheel here... (dufunnel / rockpick). Something about it really pulls the pigments out of the leather.
I love the conditioner but, the cleaner landed in my garbage can.

Well that good to know, I won't use it anymore. I didn't get any pigment when I cleaned the other seats, just that one panel. Strange. Maybe the factory damaged that panel and tried some hocus pocus repair/dye treatment.

Here are some pics of the leather.
Driver Seat. Just cleaned and one coat of leather CPR

Passenger seat. Just cleaned. Not conditioned yet. This is the one with the dye problem.

Same seat with flash

Back seats for comparison.

Opinions?

I have used the KR conditioner on my 2006 KR seats twice in two months and I did not see a dye color either time. I used a white towel, so I would have noticed. I was also caught in a torrential downpour one night about a week ago. When I got home the back seats were still wet, so I dried all of them with a white towel and I did not see any dye. The seats were darker after wiping them down, but in the morning they were back to their normal color.
I know it is not the same as your situation, but just another data point.

But someone at the leather outfit might've just over-sprayed a little, perhaps more than what the leather could absorb? Anyway, it's confirmed -- steer clear (get it?) of the Lexol cleaner and maybe that'll put an end to it...
