SHARPIE on leather

Around 3 days ago, somebody at my dad's work, (we don't know who), put a 2 inch long mark with a black Sharpie on the back of the drivers seat. We tried the King Ranch conditioner. What do you suggest that we use to take the mark out?

A Sharpie marker? If it's the one I'm familiar with, we're going to have some trouble here.
You're going to start getting some replies from some pretty sharp people on this board. Someone may have a way to deal with this. I personally can't think of a way to remove the ink without scarring the leather, so my suggestion would be for you to contact the King Ranch Tack Shop directly. They are on the web. I wish you the best of luck. This is a tough one.
Please keep us all informed as to your progress. We all stand the same chance of having to deal with something like this in our own trucks.

I just got off the line with them, and they said that they do not have anything that will clean it. She said that someone tried a alcohol pad, but she does not know if the leather faded or not. So I will try that on a spot that is not visible, and see if the leather fades.

The best cleaner I have dealt with so far is from Connolly. It's an expensive condensed cleaner that you mix with 12 parts water. But I doubt that anything can handle that ink. Perhaps a good cleaning and then a die job...

I used to build and race slotcars and I used a body wash on the lexan bodies that would strip paint off them. I noticed one day that it would also immediately remove sharpie marker ink.

I have used it on interior body panels like the doors with no problems, but I have not used it on leather. I would try a spot under the seat and if all is well, that is what I would use. Check around with local hobby shops or anyone selling Pactra paints. The stuff I had was called Fastwash.

I wish I had an answer for you bud... I assume that you talked to Rose at the Saddle Shop when you called? She's typically the one that answers the phone and handles the operations there...

If you find something that you think may work, like has been previously mentioned, I'd try it in an inconspicious place first and allow it to totally set before using it in a high-visibility area like the back of the seat. Best of luck man...

David,
I did a little surfing and came up with this. I looked up "Sharpie Marker" on Google and this site showed up. Apparently they have a product called Amodex which they claim may work on this problem. Maybe you could try contacting them

David - since you're not accepting email and no one's mentioned it, try Leathermaster's ink lifter product - Catano leather is analine Type A. Although it's for protected coated Type P leather, as noted, it will work on analine as well.

Good to see you still lurking about, MikeF150, we missed you! I understand you're busy, but if you got time to read, stick a post in now and again, just for old time's sake.

LOL... this place gets too addictive.... one post leads to another and then another..... (already 3 in this thread alone! )

Besides, my truck is so filthy right now it's embarrassing... between the salt from the roads and red mud from building sites, I'm at a point I'm praying for rain...

I just wiped it with an alcohol swab, and it looks like it is clearing up, so I am going to wipe it down again.
