Looks like the pic of the vert was put out to soon. I should have saved it.
This taken from blue oval news...
There was a mix-up between us and two departments at Ford about releasing photos of the GT500 convertible. We removed the photos, however, hope to make them available again soon.

My 96 GT coupe that I had was like sitting on the living room couch when going 95. In fact the faster I went the smoother that car was. I think the aerodynamics of it just made it hug the road better the faster I drove it. My kind of car.
I'm going to go against the grain here and vote to hang on to the 72' just because I LOVE that car so much... the GT500's etc are fine but, vehicles like what you have there aren't an every day occurance.
The new Stangs', to address your original question, are pretty neat but, come no where close to posing the level of interest and prestige that go along with a classic Mustang.
You, of all of us, know more about the 'classic' vehicle world. I, for one, would think it VERY silly (and certainly not awesome) to make a move of this caliber due to a 'guilt' feeling that she's not running on a weekly basis... After just watching some of the Barrett Jackson, I can't see letting something on this level go...
But... if you do... while I seriously doubt I could afford such a toy ... I was serious when I made the comment in a former thread along the lines of letting me know if you were interested in allowing the $ buy the hardwood floors in your new house (and probably a new stang at the same time?).

You have 2 vehicles sitting in your garage.
One is a lovely 2005 KR Expy, which I really don't intend to change for a very long while....only do about 5000 miles a year.
Also a 72 Mustang Convertible in superb condition with 60.000 original miles.
The Mustang sounds superb and always turns heads....BUT for much of the year it sits in the garage while we are in the UK and it always bothers me...Will it start when we get back...what's going to go wrong next...(I'm not an expert mechanic on Mustangs)
I really like the new Mustang Convertible in Legend Lime Green.
(Total reliability and easy to look after)
Now I know the 72 will always hold it's value, the new one won't , but...in my situation....
Would you swap ?!
(I can get X Plan too )

1972 Mustang's were not classics for collecters...Mach 1( 429 ) are the hot mustangs in the 1970 ( boss 302 ) to 1973. None the less a a 1972 Mustang is so simple to work on, a convertible is worth more, one with a 351 C is worth more...Even with a 302 2V a 1972 Mustang is no slouch....Nostelga wise I would keep the 72 Mustang...For performance a 04/newer Mustang is Top class for all stock Mustangs....
You have to decide to follow your head, or your heart, than the othier will follow...as For Myself, I would keep the 72...

Well....I drove the GT today and it is a great drivers car....fast, responsive, and firm on the road.
However I find the interior rather a let down..it just doesn't feel very special.
Also the price of the GT even with X Plan, takes it to a level that I feel is unacceptable for what I would be getting.....so, I guess I'm keeping the '72.
Thanks for all the input though, everyone !
