Removing the ARE lid isn't impossible but its not something I'd want to do very often. It's held in place by three clamps (I think there's three) on each side. Remove the clamps and lift it off. That's all there is to it. It'll take two people to lift it. Its not that its overly heavy but its size makes it akward. I don't think one person can do it or should even try it. If you plan on taking it off very often, I'd consider another type of tonneau that's lighter and less work. Maybe even a removeable soft top of some kind.

I wondered how long it would take you to add a tonneau to the back of that new truck. Good choice and looks great.
