Now...about those KR wheels?

The more I walk around my new KR the less I like the wheels. Just my opinion, but I really don't think they are as classy as previous years and seem rather "in your face" simple. My 21 year old son said "they look gay", so I agreed and told him, much the same way his hat made him look gay, hoping to end that sort of conversation.
What is your opinion on the new 05 KR wheels?

They are too flat, no depth to them.

My 01 KR had a much more interesting wheel. And the center cap wasn't a saucer.

They are just, "HO-Hmmm".

I believe I've seen a color-keyed wheel that is available on the Expedition (maybe an EB Expy) that is MUCH more stylish... They actually look like they'd work with the KR wheel center caps too as I recall...

I'll see if I can find a picture...

LOL - That was hilarious. I can just hear a 21 year old saying that. But the comeback was excellent.

Well, each to his own but I find the wheels on the '05 KR very fitting and quite nice. Hell, the Lincoln Navigator has similar wheels with very appealing distinction and class. A similar situation happened to me when the new body style of the '04 F150 was first released. I thought it was ugly but now I find it very appealing and so I think others who dislike the '05 KR wheels may grow to see or understand what the designers had in mind when they made the difficult choice to select a new wheel for a totally new KR. I'd venture to guess that '05 KR owners either love their wheels or hate them and if the latter then replacements are probably in their future mod plans.

Thanks DaveMan

Yeah, they may grow on me after time. I do like the color keyed accent, but even that is not really striking unless you happen to notice it when the wheel is turned just right. Analyzing what a designer intended is not something I find very interesting, but I did click on the concept. Understated elegance I can easily understand and appreciate.

That looks nice! Actually, my '05 Lariat has the Beige accent similar to that wheel. Looks great with the Lariat two tone color option.

There is a fellow who posts in the F150 (2004-2005) forum with a set of these wheels with tires for sale.

RockPick...

I wonder if the running W caps would fit those wheels?
