Nothing to report here. I'm still waiting to hear back... I'm going to 're-email' tonight. The guy I'm attempting to email is a difficult one to get in contact with sometimes as he's so busy... and, in turn, he probably won't get this scope of work based on the unresponsive nature.

I'm a customer... if he wants the business, I'll hear back. I rarely give a second chance to get/keep my business but, in this case, I'm going to just once...

No reply from the KR yet I'm afraid......
here is a copy of the E mail I sent them....

Although I live in the UK I visit Texas a lot and keep a King Ranch Ford Truck in Houston.
When I last visited your store I spoke with a young lady whose name I forget, but she had worked with Ford testing the leather treatments for the seats.
This question is not about that but she seemed very knowledgeable and may help with the following question.

There are quite a large group of us on the internet who own Ford King Ranch Trucks and we have been discussing the possibility of having a logo for our group......
However we are wondering about the implications of using the running W logo and would hope that you can direct us to someone who may tell us the viability of using the logo on the badge.
For you information I am attaching a trial run of what we hope a decal/badge may look like.
Thanks in anticipation for any help you can provide.

Will give it another couple of days and may then give them a phone call.

Thank you Lenny. Let me know immediately if you hear anything from KR. I'm going to attempt to call on Friday pending I can give it the attention that it deserves.

i think that if the kr saddleshop would be more accomodating in answering our telephone calls and email messages, this thing would be moving a lot faster. if we dont get a response from them soon, i think that we never will. i could rework the logo to have an imprint of the 'rolling W' on the arizona beige background and make the 'King rancH' bigger and the 'Ford Truck' bigger. let me know what ya'll think. i think that this little plan of mine should work without any problems from the kr saddleshop. sarman, if you could talk with your brother in law about the idea of an imprint of the 'rolling w' instead of displaying it forthright. let me know what you guys think about this idea and if you think it is worth it, i will recreate the logo to conform to this plan. thanks guys!!

A few further thoughts......

We don't have the need to rush into this....we have the logo ready to go...it won't spoil !!!
We should give the saddleshop a couple of weeks to reply and then think again.
There are 2 roads to go down.....
Proceed with the logo exactly as it is and not worry too much...if someone decides at a later date that it is too close to the original it can be amended.
No one in their right mind would take any action against a group of enthusiasts who have endeavoured to do the right thing anyway.

Alternatively alter the running W slightly so as to not offend the original rights to the symbol, and go ahead on that basis.
Again we have the proof that we have been trying and willing to do the right thing, simply by looking at these posts !

Again. let's bide our time for a couple of weeks and perhaps see if RP gets a response from your side of the pond.

I have been a member of enough societies and involved in the running of enough to know that it is easy to get carried away with enthusiasm that only peters out when the reality of actually doing things kicks in.
Witness Davemans attempts to get the KR trip going.

This KR society......we need to think about what could be achieved that would not happen by way of contributions to this forum as it is now.

In all honesty I have to say that the answer is "Not a Lot" !

Now don't get the wrong idea...I'm not against it. I just don't want to see a lot of effort going to waste.
HOWEVER....one very good thing has come out of these discussions, and that is the impressive logo.

It would be a crying shame not to see it being put to good use.

So once again. let's be patient and all do our best to get the logo into production for T Shirts, badges, decals or whatever !!

PS I have written what I said about using the logo and it's legal implications using my own experience in the sytem of jurisprudence in the UK. (I'm a judge....don't know if I ever admitted that before!)....
However your legal system though based on ours is now very different in many respects so my views cannot necessarily be held as correct.

(Judges are human too !!! )

Lenny is exactly right guys. This is what I've been saying for a while now. Let's make sure we get this right and take the time to make sure the t's are crossed and the i's dotted. Paying close attention to detail is a virtue and needs to be addressed in full respect on this project.

We'll cross the bridge once it's built.

See the back of the KR Catalog or

http://www.ustrek.org/odyssey/semest...stephking.html

For nearly a century and a half, the King Ranch was a source of great joy for my family and hundreds of others. But over the past fifteen years, this happiness has turned bittersweet. What was once a self-sufficient, family-owned operation has turned into a major international corporation that owns some thirteen million acres worldwide. Its logo, the "Running W," has been emblazoned on saddles, blankets, furniture, luggage, wallets, key chains, coffee mugs, pens, and pendants that telemarketers sell for hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Its land brings in millions with its oil and gas reserves, hunting and agriculture. Its prized cattle - the cherry red Santa Gertrudis - supply the butcher shops of the nation. Its quarter horses take first place in shows across the globe.

Its logo, the "Running W,"
