Again, a legitimate thought. Hadn't thought of that...

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I finally have the stuff to do my emblems. I made my way over to the local stealership and found myself paying close to $9 for .5 ounces of 'Estate Green' touch up paint.

My question to those who have done it is: Have you had any problems with the emblems yet? Also how has the silicone held up, is that the new and improved way of doing them?

As you can see I have an estate green truck and I am going to do the from emblem that color, but what color should I do the back?

Thanks,

Hey Chris...

So far, mine are still perfect. Zero problems out of them.

Also, you mentioned silicone... I didn't use silicone but, I think dufunnel did (which we haven't seen on the boards in months). I can attest, however, for the Envirotex stuff. It worked great and continues to look excellent.

That's harsh for touchup paint!!!! I think I gave $6/tube last time I bought. You might check with Torrie at www.fordpartsnetwork.com (torrie@fordpartsnetwork.com) and see if he can get you a better deal than that. Tell him RP sent ya and it might help.

Thats a cool mod, I think I just might color key my emblems when my truck comes in, the huge emblem on the grill should look good red, surrounded by a chrome billett grill.

Well I all ready bought the paint, but was expecting to pay $6 because last I heard from you thats what you paid.

I was thinking Arizona beige on the back, but the only thing thats that color in my truck is the interior. So what color should I do the back? I was thinking silver, estate green, or the beige...or maybe something else.

I'd go green on the back too Chris... I don't think it'd blend in too much... but, think it through... print out some emblems that are lifesize and tape them on there to see what color looks the best...

Very easy to do... get a pic of the emblem, flood fill it the said color, print, cut it out, tape it up and look at it.

I just painted my front emblem and am very disturbed at how it came out. The paint is not smooth like I hoped it would be, but instead it looks like crap I think. I am going to try to clean it up a little, but the esate green is so hard to work with.

Any advise here? Does it look better once you put the envirotex on it?

I have a hunch that you ended up with a 'clumpy' looking emblem? In that case, I don't think the envirotex will clean it up as the 'clumpy' look will cast small shadows beside the clumps and make them look worse...

How did you apply?

I started to paint it on then that looked like crap, so I dumped some paint on and moved it around, but still not much luck. The only way I think I would be happy with it, is if I sprayed it on, and I don't feel like payinf 40 bucks for a can of spray paint.

So I think I found my fix...but I'll post it later so some one doesn't out bid me. (same thing Leny did )

G'luck Hazard...

You might try the parts counter at Ford. I've heard that they sell a spray paint of the colors... not sure on this but, I know I've read it.

The best part, I think it was only like $10-$20 for the can versus the robbery that paintscratch charges...
