How to do it

RockPick and anyone else who knows,

That looks really awesome and I would love to do it, I even have some Pacific Green (the color of my truck) touch up paint. What is the exact process that you went about to do it? Thanks a lot and take your time in responding because I still have two weeks till I get home from the semester in London and see my baby again, but it looks really awesome and thanks in advance for your help. You all are great and I am inspired by your awesome mods.

Hey Greenbuck...

It's super simple...

Follow this link... this details exactly how I did mine... I used a hair dryer rather than boiling though...

That rear emblem is very elegant!
I think you may have inspired me too.
Follow the link... no, the inspiration went away. I'd better go take another look at your pics!
Seriously cool mod, keep them coming dude.
Got to go to work. Check out my thread about the KR Grill. Looks to me like you'll know the solution to my problem.

Rock Pick,
I finally got my billet front grille emblem to match my rear billet emblem and hitch cover. All are filled with black which looks great on my black KR.

Here's my question: I did the same mod on my Lightning and the front emblem just pushed out. The KR front emblem seems to be threaded and doesn't just push out. Are there nuts on the back of the grill, little metal clips or what? Just thought I should know before I remove the shroud.

Appreciate your help and by the way, your painted emblems look cool.

Best wishes,
Jim

If you've got a little more $$$ and want the same result with virtually no effort, there are a couple vendors that sell gelcoated overlays for Ford badges. I only have a rear badge on my truck due to the aftermarket grill I installed, but I wanted a black tailgate badge to match the other badges on my truck. Here's what it now looks like.

No fuss no muss and I think the quality and look of the overlay is super.

Just another perspective.

I thought about the aftermarket emblems but they just didn't seem to offer the color combo's that I wanted to pursue on my truck.

Definately looks good though...

My problem too. The guy who sells the colored emblems on homestead sold me some blanks since he wouldn't do the colors I wanted. I tried initially doing the charcoal blue and arizona beige, but it didn't turn out right, so I went with Chameleon blue, green, purple instead. Then I just siliconed the top layer on and it looks just like the stock emblem.

Yes, silicone as in caulking gun type, clear. It seals the emblem while providing adhesion. It has worked thus far and you can't really tell any difference from the stock emblems. You can only see the green in these two pictures, but at the other angles it is blue and purple.

How about the reflection in this one? Can you tell what other vehicle I have? BTW, you don't win anything, as this is an easy one.
