Custom Painted Ford Emblems

I can't stand it... I have to show these off!!

Here's what you all have been guessing on for the past few days. They are custom painted Ford emblems. I did these myself with an idea sparked by 'FIFEL' from the other site. I have to give him credit; he performed this modification first to his Estate Green KR.

Chestnut Brown Metallic Custom Painted Front Grille Emblem

Arizona Beige Metallic Custom Painted Tailgate Emblem

Now, what do you all think? I know it's not a 'totally original' modification but, I think it looks awesome.

I'll take some pictures of them re-installed tomorrow night as they need to sit for another day/night in order to cure.

One more picture...

Both Emblems: Side By Side

I can't wait for these to cure. I want to install them **NOW**!!

_=RP=_

PS: I'm working on another 'painted project too'. I'll attempt to unveil that one tomorrow night too.

Better still......can we all mail you our badges as it would be a shame to waste that talent when you have obviously perfected the technique....and once again.....
YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE SO MUCH TIME TO SPARE !!!!!!

(Nice job...especially the Arizona Beige one.)
As you know I removed the oval from my front grill and replaced with a KR.....but that blue thing on the back really bugs me....SO...

HOW MUCH WILL YOU CHARGE A POOR PENNILESS FURRINER ?!

They look awsome Rock.....I started on my moms last night.....since I have enough supplies I think I am gonna try and talk another friend who drives a white Ford into doing his too since he currently has (and this is unbelievable) zero mods and his truck is 2 years old.

Thanks folks. I appreciate it!

Lenny, send yours my way and I'll take care of them. No problemo. It'll be a minimum charge for you... HA!

Skagel, I didn't break any of those darn fasteners either. Or... I haven't broken them yet. Lucky me huh? I was at the brink of breaking one though... damn thing wouldn't come out.

It's really a very easy mod. Just need a steady hand.

So what you're saying is don't drink a pot of coffee before attempting this mod.

question for ya? did you use a putty knife or dental floss to get the emblems off?

Hair dryer and a stubby flat headed screwdriver wrapped in a wash cloth.... and a overwhelming amount of 'being SUPER careful' to not scratch or dent. A hair dryer makes it simple though.

Only bad thing, when I took the rear one off, the adhesive generally stayed on the truck but, if you heat it up more, you can start 'rolling' it back and it comes off pretty well. I'll have to be honest though, I still have some of that damn black adhesive under my left thumbnail. LOL

For the remaining 'film' that was left after removing the adhesive I used rubbing alcohol to get the best of it off then I resorted to my Meguiar's #9 swirl remover followed up by a coat of Meguiars Premium Paint Protection (my wax of choice since day one).

Oh yes... JUST SAY NO to coffee pre-mod. By the time I had finished I was STONED to the max off of paint fumes. I'm serious. My head was THROBBING the next morning. Felt like I'd polished off a fifth of my favorite beverage.

Whew... the things we do for our trucks.

Yes I agree. I have given up all hopes of ever becoming a hand model.

There are a couple of companies out there making them (probably the OEM manufacturer) but, they were only available in Black, White, and maybe Red beyond the Ford Blue.

These are the stock emblems off of my truck (my truck, currently, looks really silly without the emblems driving around town).

Just FedEx yours up this way Lenny. I'll have them done in about 3 or 4 days and shipped back to you. Lickity Split! LOL!

I too am disappointed that this is what it was. I would never have guessed it. I did mine about 6 months ago, and wasn't happy with the way the Arizona beige turned out. I too used my touchup bottle for it. I redid them in the chameleon blue/green/purple paint that matches my charcoal blue pretty well at the right angle.

The Chestnut one turned out really well. I wasn't happy with the beige ones of mine. They looked much like your beige one. I am just too picky about my emblems.

Looks good.

You can still get the colored emblems. There is a website around here somewhere for them. That's where I bought the ones for my Sport Trac and I also got my blanks from him and painted them myself.
