Lurker from Maine

Greetings all!

Been lurking for a while and figured I'd finally drop a hello/intro.

Went from a 2000 Ranger to my current 2008 F150 back in Fall 2010 when a close family friend sadly passed away exactly 2 years ago this past Thursday. He had recently retired and bought this '08 new as his retirement truck. His wife/sons basically wanted to get rid of it once he passed since they really had no use for it. They were asking WAY below KBB value so it was a great deal on top of the ability to own something that a close friend/boss once owned. The truck had 10.5k miles on the clock when I took ownership of it and was in fantastic shape aside from some tree sap and road grime that had really baked into the paint from sitting for a while.

Fast forward a year and a half and the truck is still treating me very well. 39k on the clock now and aside from a couple minor hiccups along the way, no complaints! Parking brake seized up on me the first winter I had it so that required a full tear down/axle removal to replace the backing plates and internals that grenaded. I've done a few other basic mods (listed in my sig) and have a bunch more listed. I'm a big time DIYer and enjoy tasteful mods that balance function and form. That said, the dumped 2.5" race bullet is just plain loud and I love it

I'll thank everyone on here who has helped me so far without even knowing it! I have picked up a lot while lurking and look forward to having a few of my own questions answered in the near future.

Cheers from vacationland,

Mike

Thanks all! Sorry for the delay...was out of town these past couple of days. All I have access to right now is a picture of my truck the day I picked it up back in Sept 2010. Headlights are now black and it's much cleaner but you get the idea!

I debate removing the window visors all the time...thoughts?

Nice color, you don't see the green all that often I like it. The visors are a nice add on in my opinion, because they are practical, that's just my opinion. Weathertech makes some really low profile ones if you don't like how far they stick out.

Back when I got the truck, the green definitely wouldn't have been my first choice if I was picking the color. That said, I'm happy with it today. It cleans up really well, has a nice metallic look to it and just seems a bit "classic" you know? It also leaves a lot open as far as going with or without more chrome/black etc. The visors are practical. I love having the windows cracked on the highway in a summer rain storm and not getting wet.
