Leather SteeringWheel badly faded at top

My '97 Eddie Expy has (had) a tan leather steering wheel. It looks like hell from the sun and wear.

I don't want one of those Pep Boy 'wheel covers. But what else can I do?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Well that looks damn good.

Do I need a degree in automotive interior design to make it NOT look like my '74 Capri that I had in Highschool - had that TrackAuto Pleather wrap wheel cover with the lace hanging all over the place.

And where do I find the WheelSkins?

Thanks!

If you search the internet, you should find one for between $30.00-$40.00.

As for putting it on: It's just like sewing. Put the tread through a couple of holes and pull tight. You'd also want to heat the leather in your dryer for a while to make it streatch.

It's quality leather. Very thick and soft.

I know it's the 'old school' answer but, you might check the local salvage yard to see if they have one on a vehicle that is in pretty good shape. Just my two cents...

You can also find new steering wheels on eBay, all the time, But, the tan ones are quite rare and there's then the task of installing it or paying a dealer to do it for you.

leather wheels ar tough that way.

Even plastic steering wheels have the texture worn off if you aways drive with your hands in the same position.

In future, try to move your hands around more (not a solution, but extends the life of the leather finish)

Here is a custom built one with real carbon fiber covered by what looks like 1/2" of clearcoat.

If it just the color worn away, and if the leather is not in bad shape. Many auto seat cover shops can die it and make it look allmost like new.
