I turned the lumbar support up about 2 rotations on mine and they are quieter now...still not silent, but close.

The driver's seat on my '98 has been squeeky, but seems to have gotten worse, now the passenger side is beginning too.

What is a lumbar and how can I adjust it?

The lumber is an adjustment you can make to the seat and give you better back support, or more comfortable. You would feel it in the small of your back, and lower back.

If you have it there would be a **** on the left side of the seat (drivers side) right side of the seat (passanger side) it's about 3" - 4" diamater. If you turn it while sitting you will feel it either moving in or out depending on the direction you are turning it.

In my case on the passenger seat adjusting it so you could feel it coming out (pushing against your back) its what took the squeck away. It had sounded like an old bed spring. Hope that helps.

My seat was ok for awhile but now it is getting cold and it sqeaks even more until it warms up then it doesn't make a sound. I think I am going to try another ford dealer. The one i bought from just keeps giving me the run around. I know of another dealer that is really good. I am going to give them a try I will post results.

Yea, My seat squeeks even though the lumbar fixed it for a while. And like I mentioned earlier it only squeeks for about the first 15 minutes of driving, then you can't hear it. I may bring mine in next week to the dealer and see what they can do. Maybe they can give me some captains chairs and a center console to replace my 60/40?? I would pay a little out of pocket.

Still haven't found time to bring my truck in to the dealer for my squeeky seats. I think they are getting worse now. I know the dealer will just park my truck out back until there "trim" guy decides to walk out there and either order a new seat or say there is nothing wrong. That is partially why I am dragging my feet. Waiting to see if my father can go up to the dealer he used to work for and talk to the "trim" guy first. Hopefully this will insure I get what I need. I will keep you guys updated.

02XLT,

I guess I am lucky compared to most people as far as dealers go. Mine made no issue of it. I told them what the problem was and they went right to work on it. Less than 3 hours later all was well again. And I have almost 1,000 miles on the repair and it seems to be holding up fine.

I can't imagine what I would do if I had one of those dealers that everone else here seems to have. Mine is great.
