Thumbs down In dash lights

I had my 1997 F-150 in the shop this week for maintenance work and while it was there I mentioned that two of the lights were out in the dash behind the speedometer. They quoted me $15 for parts (all new bulbs) and 3 hours labor (@$84 per hour) to pull the dash and replace the bulbs. Has anyone run into this or tried to replace burned out bulbs in dash panel? This seems totally unreasonable. Thanks for any advice or help.

I don't know why they would charge 3 hours labor. After doing this a few times in only takes about 1/2 hour.

You only have to replace the bulbs themselves. When you go to the auto parts store, they also sell the bulb with the socket but you just need the bulb.

In your case, these instructions are not complete. You'll need to remove panels "2" & "5" as well.
