Yesterday it was real hot i guess here in florida..i dont notice alot of the time...but when got in my truck and tried to slide the rear window open the damn handle came off in my hand. Ford obviously used some kind of rubbery epoxy to put it on originally. I used some pvc glue thinking it might bond the two peices together. It hasnt fallen off but i havent used the window either. Anybody else run into this?

 

I could have gone my whole life without knowing that. Thanks.

I mean I spend my free time listening for piston slap and looking for oil leaks but, the worst part is, in an effort to avoid getting the dreaded 'door cracks', I have been entering and exiting my truck through the sliding window.

I guess I'll stop doing that now that I've learned the handle might come off.

(Man, I wish I had a sunroof...)

Well I just replaced mine and I used some epoxy to put it back on with and so far so good.

 

you climb in and out your back window? i dont think i would fit very easily myself and im only 5'11. I didnt have any epoxy to mix so i used the pvc stuff...guess i will see if it works when i get outa work later. It should bake in the florida sun for a bit. should be a good test

 

It's no problem for me because I'm a midget.

I can't even check for the door cracks unless someone holds me up.

 

I have never seen any cracks like everyone else is talking about.
Hope I never see any for that matter. That window thing is like the dukes of hazard or something. god i loved that show when i was a kid! specially daisy duke..aww yeah

 

Aw c'mon PW88. Donchaknow when Raoul may be a pullin' yer leg? Seriously though. Pull the handle back off and go to a glass shop and have them reinstall it for you. Some glues will eat a hole in the glass. Glass installers use a special adhesive for affixing mirrors to windshields.

 

The handle actually is two pieces. One is glued to the glass..that stayed put suprisingly, and the other glues to the first piece with four epoxy dabs..figured anything that chemicaly joined plastic would do it...ill find out in about 40 min when i leave...the real test is how long will it last
