Expy console in f-150?

I'm pretty sure this topic has been discussed before, but does an Expy center console fit nicely between captains chairs in an 98 f-150? it looks as though it might, is it possible, how much are the consoles?

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

check www.lwm.com they have both the old and new style. if i remember correctly the older style is $125, and it will fit between the armrests, the newer style is $90 and you have to take the armrests off. i have been looking at those as well, just waiting till i go back to Oklahoma to pick one up.

thanks a ton to both of you. that was the most helpful answer i've ever received. i'm gonna check it out and will no doubt make the switch.

Are there any drawbacks or cons to doing this?

there shouldn't be. you are basically just making it like an expy, not really aftermarket.

AIRBAG,

The only drawback is that with the newer style consoles it is a tight fit with th armrests down. The '97-'98 consoles are narrower (check out my pictures in my gallery). A few people have removed the armrests. The reason why the console is wider is that the newer Expeditions do not have armrests.

I can not think of any other cons. The space in between the factory console and the dash is wasted space with the captains chairs unless you have a 5 speed manual. I was one of the first to do this "conversion" and a lot of people have made the switch with no regrets. Even Lightning owners are switching to the Expy console. Hopefully Ford will listen to us and put the full console in the '04 F-150's.

My Expy Console from LWM was $140 including shipping. It actually looked to be in better condition than my F-150 Console.
Install was simple. All the holes are the same.
I requested the old style so I could keep my arm rests.

Hmmm, sounds awesome. I just called LWM and they have a few more in stock. But they also mentioned that the best ones they have still have some minor imperfections and scratched on them. it probably isn't a big deal - and it's still a better price ($160 with ship) than direct from FORD.

what do you think?

Mine had a couple of minor scratches but once I cleaned it up and shot it with some Armor All it looked like new.

Thumbs up

I would go for it!

The minor scratches are usually just that! Very minor and can be taken care of with some armorall or the like.

My console also came from LWM and I was impressed when it arrived and still am, since the installation.

It does make a difference to the look and feel of the interior!

I also think that Ford has been listening because I have seen the expy consoles in the 2002 HD F150's.

I also put my cd changer in the Expy console. Needed to do some slight mods to the bracket but it fit just fine. Removing it from the left rear panel was a major PIA, but it was doable. Too bad
'search' is down. I explained it in full detail. ennis

yeah, the idea of placing the changer there is a cool idea. i may look into that - it would certainly be A LOT more convenient than breaking your arm reaching back to add a disk.

anyway, just ordered the console, pretty much demanded the best one they had. we'll see.
