Unhappy Is yours broken?

Sometimes i feel like the folks at the Ford factories aren't tryin hard enough. My Lighter Door has been broken forever, and its no wonder, its the cheapest built contraption ever. Mine just hangs limp now, uncloseable... am i the only one whose lighter door is broken?

I know what you mean

You'd think they could get the cheap, simple stuff right at least, but sometimes with the interior they get lazy and create flimsy designs. On my 95 Ranger the center armest droops to the passenger side. I looked inside of it to find a flimsy mechanism where one thin metal rod secures it only to the left portion of the 60/40 split bench and the rod doesn't even run all the way through the armrest to give it good support, it just attatches to a weak pivot joint on one side. It's real junk, and it makes me wonder why they couldn't invest in something so simple that could be so irritating if it goes wrong prematurely.

And of course the real kicker is that even though it's a crappy worthless design, parts and labor for replacement would be 300 smackers.

Yep, mines been broke since I bought the truck used. Also, the dirver side armrest is been used to hard and droops down but the center console (captians chairs) and seat belt latch hold it up far enough to use.

So far mine is still in good shape I close it every time I put up my radar detectoer. But on my last FORD a 96 Mustang GT the 2 rubber strips along where the hand brake lever was ripping apart after about six months of use on that car seems like they could have done something better for that I guess FORD figured nobuddy would use that daily.

I'm a smoker so my door has been open since I bought the truck 4 years ago.

I do have to say that none of my interior components or trim are broken after 4 years.

just door crack, leaking rear window...

Mine is not broken (yet)...and that door IS cheap! Mine has been open 95% of the time since I bought the truck.

Its not the peaple in the factories. I bust my *** everyday. I am sore and tired after every long day. The factory peaple had nothing to do with the design.

I have no doubt of that

IT goes back to the bean counters in tthe initial design stages who think more about how to save 3 dollars per truck here and there than about how to build the most durable interior possible.

agree

Alot of the ford interior is cheap. We talk about this sometimes while working. I and alot of others think that GM puts a better interior in thier trucks cars also. We make the tougher truck though. imo.

I disagree that GM makes a better interior. The Ford interior seems rommier and more comfortable. I have had several GM guys comment on how nice the interior is. It may not be the best built/designed dash as far durabilty of each part but I like it and that's all the matters.
