2004 F150 FX4 Chrome Shifter Cap?

My chrome shifter cap is peeling and was wondering if there is anyway to replace this? I have read up on this forum of other people with the same problem but haven't found a replacement part or solution unless you buy a whole new shifter. What do you guys recommend?

It will pop off with a screw driver. If I were you i would just take it off and paint it black to save some money. If not maybe look on ebay for a used shifter?

Yea sounds like the best plan, for now I will leave it alone it doesn't bug me too much, maybe I will get some of that black chrome spray paint see if that works, but since it isn't too bad I would rather not risk ruining it, so I will leave it for now. Thanks though!

You can get the shift **** thru Tasca Parts # 4L3Z-7213-BA ; Little on the pricy side at $43.00 + Shipping, or their eBay store for $58.00 w/free shipping

Cool, now this kind of looks like just installing a new button...do these steps take off the whole shifter assembly?

No, just the handle. After the screw is removed the handle just pulls straight up and off the lever.
